Welcome to the Forum.

I would recommend you start reading this thread for lift advice/reviews.
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/tj-l...ews-25145.html

also you might want to start your own thread to get more responses.

I finally replaced the u-joints in the rear drive shaft last night. Got home late, so today I put the drive shaft back in the Jeep so I could drive it today.

IDK if you have gotten this fixed yet, but if not, here's my thoughts. My Avenger was doing this and it ended up being the distributor and the spark plug wire. I noticed mine more when decelerating and going up hills. It almost felt like a fuel problem because it would start this little jerk / cut out, like the engine stopped getting fuel for a brief second. Swapped the distributor and the plug wires and viola! it stopped doing it!

6" is a pretty hefty lift.....especially for a DD.

Welcome! I suggest you do some searching around the forums and do a lot of reading. I highly doubt you need a 6inch lift. What size tires do you want to run?

Example: what's wrong in picture 1? See picture 2. Competitor 237, no jack, no compressor, car falling apart, in a bowl with a popped front tyre, no clue, no chance. Ropey old TJ with dodgy gearbox? Easy.

I think the discount is 50 dollars off when you buy a set.

Ok that doesn't hurt as bad as 10% off or something like that. I bought a set of 5 tires and wheels.

Installed my 2in Teraflex BB today. Smittybilt Classic bumpers front and rear last Tuesday. Next: longer shocks and a soft top.

So I have been looking at this for a little while, thinking I should do something about it before it advances too far. I've read some horror stories about frame rust, removing the shovel, etc. How difficult is this? I know it's not a lot of bolts, but it doesn't look like there is a good way to shoot PB at the bolts, etc. So if you have been down this road, pointers would be appreciated. My plan (or lack thereof) is just to drop the skid, take care of the rust, install a new mount since it's all open anyway, and button it back up. Replace any hardware as necessary. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, along the lines of what I did today. One of the climate control knobs broke, so I ordered a new set of billet knobs and installed them. Highly technical process.

10 percent off would be better than 50 bucks off with the price of my tires. But at least there is a company willing to give something.

Not too hard, support it with a jack as the skid is heavy.
I used a propane torch to heat my bolts and they came out easily with an electric impact.

Bought two more cans of bed liner to do my fender flares. Tried taking the front ones off but I think I will just tape it up and do it with them on. LOL. Nutserts not wanting to work with me.

Thanks. I do have an electric impact, so that might help. I'll put a little heat on them and have at it.

That's what I was getting at. I spent ~$2000 for tires/wheels.

I just inserted index cards between the flares and body and sprayed away. Came out great and was very easy to do.

Finished installing my Zone 4.25 lift tonight. Took me awhile as I did it by myself and could only work on it a bit at a time. Happy with the results and the install was pretty easy not counting the dang rusted torx bolts on the front and rear track bars. Now to put the rest of the jeep back together!

A couple of jacks are handy, u have to support transmission. It's handy to have a floor jack to assist in handling the shovel.
When I pulled mine, unbolted 4 nuts for transmission mount. Used small floor jack to support transmission xfer case, lift just until studs from mount start to lift. Put big floor jack centered under skid., used impact to undue bolts. Skid fell from jack to floor, go figure. Slid it out. Lifting it onto jack and centering weight for reinstall made install easy
