Got some paracord grab handles finished and since baseline outfitters never sent my straps for the tube doors the wifey made some of those as well.

Thanks. I like the look, too. The stuff is called Plasti Dip, $7-$8 a can, available almost everywhere spray paint is sold. It dries into a hardened rubber but is still very smooth.

Prep by washing/let it all dry/clean with acetone/tape off the surrounding areas and have at it. My grill looked good after 3 coats, but I had the time to do 5.

There are a ton of posts on the WF about using this stuff on a variety of places. The beautiful thing is that you can remove it later if you wish. With a little effort, you can get it to peel. No effort and it will last for years.

Good luck and post some pics when you're finished.

I gotta lift my XJ first. That's emptying the rest of my piggy bank for now. But I'm definitely going to try this next month. Thanks for the walk through.

No disrespect, but I have always heard its easier/just as hard to install a v8 as the 4.0 so what made you not go v8?

4.0 is a solid engine and you won't be disappointed.

Taking it back to the shop to recheck the tire balance and the brakes I just got Saturday. Tires are overinflated, go figure, and I want to have them recheck them after they air them down a bit. The brakes pull, usually left but sometimes right. Especially under heavyish braking.

I researched this for about 6 months, and several times i was convinced i was putting in a 350 or an ls1...but it just isnt a reality.

i got the deal of a lifetime, so this is definitely the cost effective way to go. The guy gave me EVERYTHING for the swap, including a rebuilt transfer case and SYE. i wont have to modify anything except welding in the brackets for the motor mounts. its totally plug-n-play.

A v8 would have taken me all summer to work out the kinks in and cost a boatload more. and nothing would ever be easy. theres so much to modify. im not ready for a project like that. this is my first engine swap ever. my jeep is my dd. so i need everything to go smoothly.

Came out this morning to a completely dead battery. Apparently yesterday/last night, while The jeep sat on the curb, and I drove my motorcycle in someone decided to flip on my aux lights that I never use on the road. Melted my covers and I may need a new battery after how dead this one was.

Can't seem to find replacement ones in stock anywhere so I may end up with the white ones. So much for my all black jeep. If anyone has a set ill buy them from you!

They're the 500 series but the black ones not the white ones that come with the standard hella 500s since these were the "black magics" or whatever. If you find them though i'd be interested in those since i'm sure Hella will want a pretty penny for the others. Thanks!

Sorry if the pic isn't showing up, i posted one in the original post where they're melted. If you can't see that the part number is H37146011 if you google it will pop up immediately. Can't upload pics from this computer sorry!

yeah, I'm figuring if you really wanted to you could spray the whole cover black, and just do a quick sanding on the Hella logo to reveal the white plastic. I'm also assuming I remember correctly that the logo is raised

Took the jeep around with the doors and top off and then decided it was a nice day to wax it. Beautiful 90° weather here in Chicago today.
