well i fixed and broke my rear window zipper at the same time, then ordered some zipper slides to replace the one i broke. and i also made a "paracord" winch pull cord from 5mm nylon recoil rope and a 150lb carabiner that i had layin around (my hands really hurt!). now i just have to put a clip hook on my winch rope, insted of the open hook i have now

Finally took the doors off for the first time (with this jeep). They didn't put up much of a fight. The drivers door came off without a jack the passenger side took a little coaxing but it came off with only a few minutes of work. :-)

I replaced front rotors, pads and calipers. At first I got the wrong rotors, who knew they decided to switch rotors halfway through the 1999 model year?!

the list of things that need to be fixed stands right now as: new radiator and rebuild transmission.
The wife was working on it and was about to order it and told me it was gonna be $80. WHAT?!?!?!?! So she is working another angle, shouldn't be that much. Arghhhh

Painted the lower frame and control arm skids with POR15. Covered and killed any rust showing as well as putting a protective coating on the new control arm skids I had welded on yesterday.

Took the top and doors off finally. And then in true newbie fashion blew half a tank of gas cruising around on a nice day

It's definitely worth it. Just keep watching his thread entries. He's not taking orders right now, but if you post a comment, he'll let you know when he's starting up again. He's blown up and got a pretty big list of orders and he does them all himself (GREAT QUALITY)! His prices are damn good too! I paid $10 more for his grab handles than I paid for the set I bought a few months ago off the 4wheelparts site. And his blow them away! He does frequent and reply often on his thread too for updates. I'm also ordering a Monkey fist and a couple of leashes later.

I just got done putting the mirror back on, what i did was actually yesterday, I relocated the rear view mirror to the windshield frame instead of the windshield because it keeps falling off, no matter what adhesive I use or how good I clean and prep it, if this works for me where it is I'm gonna permanently mount it there, right now its super glued for test purposes

But either way I think I like it better there, one less thing I gotta do every time I replace a wind shield

Made Paracord grab handles for my three ladies. Not perfect but work. The longer ones are for my little ones.

I didn't even bother with multiple tries at putting the mirror back on the windshield, I just did this...

It's not too bad. I used a hair dryer to get the plastic all loosey goosey and then used a thin chisel type tool on my leatherman to get down and around the shift pattern. Pried it up and out. Then I made sure the bolt, underneath the shift pattern, was tight as could be and put the shift pattern back in.....that was probably the hardest part right there actually.

Good luck!

Ha ha I had the same problem. My 99 has 2000 rotors. Found out by doing pads and rotors and the 82mm rotors tightened up into the pad and wouldn't release. Took it back off figured out the problem went back for the 78mm out of the 2000 model year. Live and learn.

I like this idea too, thanks I might make one, either way its NOT going back on the windshield. I have mirrors on both sides, so here in Va I'm legal WITHOUT the rear view mirror, but at the same time I'm also 50 and have had a rear view for the past 36 years I've been driving, so ya kinda get used to one being there

I'm thinking of shortening the tab the mirror is mounted to just to clean up the look a bit... I know what you mean about being used to having a rear-view mirror, I'm only a year behind you in seat time.

Besides, I'm addicted to driving with the doors off.

I know I use the rear view more than any other mirror at all.

Yea I started driving when i was 14 (permit) and full time (licensed) at 15.
I hope ya don't mind me staling your idea though, mine puts the mirror at a angle that all I can see is either WAY behind me, or the ground LOL, so I'm in process of making what you have in the picture

I'm new to the forum, but today I changed out the manifold that was cracked to the new style that has the flex pipes, and I changed the valve cover gasket.

So my TJ is in the shop getting regeared and I need to do something so I made an emergency bag. The bag doesn't have a Fire extinguisher or first aid kit. But I put things in there that would keep me comfortable overnight If
I needed to spend a night out on the trail.

I also I wrote a written list of contents so i would remember what's in the bag. I like having a bag that I can toss in easily. At least I won't go hungry
