Put my 1.5" rough country wheel spacers on. Looks good. Seeing how they hold up now. Planning to put the other rocker guard on tomorrow.

my new marine grade 400 Watt, 4 channel speaker amp came in the mail today. it took me about 5 hours to figure it all out, but after a lot of googling, some testing, a trip to the store, and a lot of cutting plastic with a coping saw, its all installed.

basically, what i did was mount the 400W amp in the dash behind where the radio used to be. (its in there DEEP and isnt coming out very easily) and then i mounted one of my old 4x6 speakers in the radio slot in front of the amp. then i made a black metal-mesh plate with speaker cloth behind it to fill the hole in the dash in front of the 4x6. so now its all clean and hidden and no longer screams "STEAL ME!"

the result: SWEET BABY JESUS. my jeep sounds like a freaking theater now. its ungodly. im so happy with everything. and all i have to do is plug in my phone.

no radio. no problem.

heres the amp mounted nice and tight

the good one of my old 4x6 dash speakers. its temporary till i come up with a better quality speaker(s) to put in its place. but it adds to the sound nicely.

aaaand the cover. it needs to be re-mounted a bit better, but for now it does the job. im thinking of putting a jeep logo in the middle. maybe...
I may use this shit. Nice job!

it was as plug and play as it gets. the only tool i used was a phillips screw driver. once you get the steering column cover off, there is literally only one screw that holds the old switch in. the new one plugs right up and is a drop in fit. would have taken me 10 minutes tops if i hadnt stopped to touch up some paint. lol.

i spent $10 on the switch. got it from someone on NC4x4. such a deal.

one thing i just noticed last night when i was working on the jeep is that putting the amp up against the air duct like i did kind of pushed the duct up about 3/4 of an inch. it doesnt effect the airflow or anything, but if you look in the vent you can see it. i dont think im gonna bother trying to correct that. lol.

anyway, the amp was on amazon for like $57 shipped. go for it, and let me know if you come up with a more creative location for mounting it.

its a 400W amp total. 100 watts to each channel. channels 1 and 2 are tied together on one gain knob, and 3 and 4 on the other. (front left and right, and rear left and right.)

and it has its own fuse and a place to connect the remote power signal from the original radio so that the amp will turn on and off with the key. (the pos and neg just go straight to the battery.)

its a Pyle Marine amp. here you go
Amazon.com: Pyle PLMRA400 400-Watt 4-Channel Waterproof Marine/Car Amplifier: Car Electronics

So, what did you do with the head unit, or does it even have one?

Very clever idea! Are there car amps out there that will power three front speakers and two rear speakers? All the five channel car amps I've seen are four channels plus a subwoofer.

Nice! I didn't know you could do that. The stereo got stolen in my daughter's blazer and she was just asking me if there was a way to not put on back and her just use her phone. I'll have to check in to this.

im actually running two separate amps. i have a smaller one mounted in the center console that powers the sub and the speaker mounted in the radio bay. the big 400W amp powers all 4 of the other speakers. the aux cable coming out of my phone has a splitter before it goes to the amps.

installed a Curt receiver hitch and a cargo carrier, also fishing rod holders on the bumper are a few weeks old. I plan on strapping more holders to the carrier soon.

I swapped out my 34 tooth speedo gear for a 39 tooth. I planned that it would take an hour. Now I need to figure out how to use the other 58 minutes.
