Interested if you've found a new way or place to mount these essentials. I'm still hanging upside down from time to time looking for every ounce of space thats got potential.

I got a second but smaller utility trailer off my brother. Since my jeep is the only one of my vehicles that can tow, I guess you can say it is for my Wrangler. I need to do some repairs to it then I will use it for my general purpose trailer and going to turn my first larger trailer into a dedicated camping or some other specialty trailer.

So I started my first mod. I removed the water wings both front and rear. Ordered the end caps from the dealer. They will be there tomorrow. Can't wait!

Gotta love Amazon, ordered my Rampage frameless top Wed night, said 5 to 8 days on shipping (don't have a prime account any more), it was delivered yesterday. Now if the rain will hold after work today or tomorrow, I might get it installed.

You know you drive a TJ when you have the parts for the mod, the right tools for the job, a BFH & still need a Sawzall to get the job done!

Simple Mods

Well I just got my first Jeep last weekend and decided that things needed to be changed a little. Pulled the top to make working easier. Then the wife and I pulled the back seat out to make room for Rufus our 120+ Lb. Rottweiler that thinks he has to go everywhere with us. Removed the rear deck carpet and replaced it with a bed mat that we custom cut to fit. I also made up a tool kit and placed it all in a leather Sissy Bar bag that was laying around the skooter shed and zip tied it to the roll bar for easy access as well as keeping it from rattling around in the bed. We decided to go down to the river to cool off and let Rufus try out his new ride and learned a valuable lesson. Don't go offroading in the Red River bottoms without the top on unless you want to do some major cleaning.

Yep, So far old Rufus seems to really like his new ride. Especially when the top is off but he likes the ac too when we have to top on and just out cruising around. Sonic carhops seem to take offense with him though.

Yesterday was great! This was despite some negative stuff.

The wife and I keep discovering more crap wrong with the used TJ we just bought. For instance, it was advertised as having a new top. It looked new, too. But we only got to taking the top down yesterday. It was merely cleaned up a lot. The frame is bent some, so it does not stow well. And the zippers were all packed hard with dirt, and the rear window zipper had come apart in two spots. (CRAP!!!)

The only way to get the rear window off was to flood the zipper tracks with WD-40, and using some needle-nose pliers to work the runners over the separated sections. This took like 45 minutes (and a bit of damage) to get it working properly. Then I was afraid of what the WD-40 might do to the window plastic, so I took a nice, hot shower with my windows and a scrub brush in tow. I used Dawn on them and they look good now.

Then we rolled on down to Jackson to sell the spare that came with the jeep. Made me some decent cash for that.

Then we went to meet a fellow south of town and scored some nice parts for FREE (as well as a can of something called Cover-All that he swore by for fender flares and mirrors and such - his looked great and he did them about a year ago).

I got 17 mpg two nights ago on an easy 30 mile drive on a state highway. Last night we got only 14.5 over 175 miles of mixed Interstate, highway and city driving, with the Interstate stuff being at 75 to 80, highway being at 60. Three nights ago I got just over 20 mpg for another easy state highway trip of about an hour.

Still sorting out air codes (lean condition) so the mpg will be fluky for a bit.

But the jeep is getting there. And I am smiling like a big, happy dog right now...

Today I washed it out really good. It was filthy. I removed a bunch of dang stickers from the tub and got the rest of the gum off the paint with a little mineral spirits followed by Dawn and lots of water. The carpets are trashed and now decorate my carport rather than the jeep.

Found some crazy home wiring that I am afraid to pull. I will photograph it and post later for advice. Lots of loose screws and nuts, too...

Changed the oil, did the 5 tire rotation/inspected the brakes (& made note of rust that needs addressing), greased & aligned the front-end / re-centered the steering wheel & gave it a bath.

Took a cruise to the Bahamas a couple weeks ago then pulled the boat to the lake (w my silverado) for a few days all while my jeep sat in the garage. Finally home and its beautiful outside. Took the top off and drove to my rental house to mow the grass. Everyone should own a Jeep! I've missed mine.

Installed quick disconnect Rugged Ridge mirrors and got my new Rampage Framless top on.

Gonna put the Brown Dog engine brackets and poly motor mounts in the morning.

Also added my .45 ACP decal. That's my big ass in the driver seat with the Glock 30.

Nice. Does it vibrate off or do you have a way to hold it on there?

Getting ready to go try it out. It's bent so the belt clip snaps onto it. I jostled it pretty good out in the shop and it didn't come loose. I had planned on making the holster permanently attached, but I decided to try the clip idea first. If it works, the belt holster will still be fully usable. I"ll know in a few minutes

*EDIT*
It did pretty good. We're getting a new water and sewer system in town and some of the streets are horrible. Some of them were rough enough to knock my foot off the gas, but the phone stayed put.

Installed clear lenses all around my 04 LJ and installed LEDs in the whole thing. Found the Lenses and LEDs all on ebay for dirt cheap and was a really easy install that took no longer than 30 min!!
