What he said. I have Sahara flares, so I did a little sanding to scuff the paint before I hit them with the Krylon, but for regular flares, just cleaning them real well should be fine.

A buddy of mine liked my paint job so much (flares and interior), he's coming to my house tomorrow to get some customization done to his Jeep too!

ended up getting towed home by my mate in his Hilux (poor 2.4 diesel didnt like doing more than 30 km/h up hills!)

Thanks for that. I have a very irritating klack-klack ol the time from my drivers seat. I'm going to remove it today to see if there is perhaps a crack lurking somewhere.

The trend these days seems to be black wheels, so it's good to see someone bucking the trend

Those look good. Not too flashy or cheesy. Good choice.

Nothing like seeing the new tire blue on the lettering. Nice rims.

Lets see? Never owned a Jeep before now but is it ever fun to drive and tinker with. I bought it in July 2011. 1997 TJ 2.5. as a DD so I dont have to hook and unhook 1 ton Dodge from horse trailer. Already had 31x10.5x15's on it. I have so far new Teraflex 2" BB, New rancho Shocks and stabilizer, Smittybilt rock front bumper, both shifter boots and bizel, painted light bizels black, sanded and painted differential covers red to match jeep and shock boots as I changed oil in them, sanded and painted side mirrors fender flares, new plugs wires cap, new fan clutch, new cat and magna flow muffler, console, roll bar hand grips. Git-er-done. Not all in one day though. Still work in progress.

Thanks, i'll save the trendy stuff for what works, when the black on black trend fades out cause all the el-cheapo co's wheels peal, polished will be back in full force...

You shouldn't need to sand them, just get them real clean. Then scuff them a little bit using a scrubby type of sponge after washing them, and then dry them real good before painting. That's what me and my buddy did today.

Here's a pic of his Jeep after painting his flares. We used Krylon Fusion flat black on his.

I did a little rope wrap on my 'Oh Sh*t' bar, the shifter handle and the door handles. Found the rope at Walmart for about $4.00 for a 100' length.

Your Jeep is so tough, mud won't even stick to it

Always could buy a few cases of the spray on Teflon. Dirt and mud would roll right off. Of course, when the Teflon dries it looks like you drove through Really dirty water already!

I installed a rod end that was custom engineered and built by EMF Rod Ends & Steering Components on my RE1600 track bar. With the type of terrain we wheel out here I was blowing through up to 6 a year. And at approximately $35 a piece (locally sourced) the price of the new one paid for itself immediately. The rod end is a piece of art, it's insane how overbuilt this thing is. EMF Rod Ends & Steering Components
