Turned out pretty good. I need better straps to hold the center hoop to the cage, and to workout how to get the top up easier alone when I drop it entirely. Probably will try to come up with some sort of non-obstructive slide lock just for putting it up/down.
Hmmmm that is worth checking into

If you do a build thread throw the link up here, I've been conserving attempting my own axle build

Here's what I did yesterday. This was my maiden run for my TJ, first time in 10+ years I've been Jeeping and the first time my boys have ever been off road.

Well this one wasn't something that I did but something that the school security did. They wrote be a ticket for having my parking pass on my windshield. I don't have any windows so I can't put it there and it won't stay on my bumper so can't go there either. I get to go fight it today.

Currently am going to a pull a part to pull a 4.8/5.3 out of an 03 silverado z71. Should be interesting.

Edit: I get back out here after leaving to go grab my trailer, and someone's already pulling it.

I'm glad my school's parking sticker goes on the windshield. I was worried about the same thing that has happened to you. Good luck fighting it. The parking security people are dicks sometimes.

I installed a new 34/78 red top today. I know quality isn't as good as they were say 10 years ago but I paid $145 brand new for it so I went ahead and picked it up.

For those of you who are interested. I price matched NAPA for $179.10 and then the guys at advance auto parts matched their online promo of $50 off $175.

Anyway I'm happy with it so far.

I could be wrong but the red tops are not good with being fully drained and recharged. I bought this with the expectations of being a daily driver and when I install my alarm system, to not have any problems with it draining all they way down.

Like I said I could be wrong and if someone that's knows better than I do, please chime in.

Is this strictly a red top problem? I've had a yellow top in my TJ for three years without any issues.

Not sure. I went to autozone a few years ago and I was going to buy an optima battery. The manager there told me that they are overpriced and overhyped.... And that they cannot be jumped or something like that....

I've seen them laying on the side of an obstacle at rausch creek burned to a crisp so I wouldn't get one.

They are odd batteries.... They need to be recharged in a certain way when you drain them...

I think it's all overhyped...

I've never heard of any of this in any optima...

It's because they are gel batteries not like a conventional battery, that's why they have to e charged on a slow charger

If you go with a deep cycle optima, it's worth it, #1 you won't drain it and #2 it won't get destroyed by the sloshing on the trail, however, since optima has moved their production to Mexico, the quality has dropped, they aren't worth the $200 anymore, but definitely worth that $145..

Look at the difference between 37' MTR's and 40" MTR's

Also did some measuring and one of the first new projects is going to be the addition of a front antirock.
Just got to find some coin to buy the whole shebang

Dropped it off at a Transmission shop after the Dealership wanted to charge me $800 to replace my Transmission Temp Sensor and do a flush. Tranny Shop is only charging me $250. Gawd I hate those places.... Dealerships that is

(YAY I posted on Page 666!)
