What is the purpose of the shelf...

...in the engine compartment under the ps unit/brake resevoir in my '04 Wrangler? It has several drain holes and three tapped holes in a triangular configuration.

If you remove it you can carry a quart of oil, tranny fluid, and power steering fluid, inflatable doll. You know, essential crap.

I wondered the same thing. At first, I thought "holy crap...something is missing but what could it be?"

So I looked real close and did not find any missing wires or hoses, the jeep runs great and everything is OK...life is good....

Looks like a great spot for a second battery.
