What is this button

So I just bought my first tj. I've had two JKs, then a custom YJ that I loved. Now I've moved on to my new to me TJ unlimited. I got it at a dealership, and the previous owner obviously did a bunch of work on it.

One thing he or she did was this button. I have had it for a day but haven't had time to really go through everything yet. No stumbled upon this and was wondering if y'all knew what it was, maybe a common thing. It's under my steering column and I don't know where it's wired to yet.

Of course one thought is kill switch, but it seemed to obvious for placement and I've been able to start it up no problem. Other thoughts? As always, thanks for any help.

Ditto, did you try it? Put your seat belt on first in case it's an eject button!

Depending on the year model and option package it is either the photon torpedo launcher or the "Beer Me" button.

2 things come to mind:

1) Self destruct button, press if you are being boarded by gestapo police.

2) Emergency escape button, for when your Liberal "Tree Hugger" cousin just wont Shut their mouth....

Seriously, though, could be a starter backup or horn button.

Best to press it now and see what it does before you bump it on the road and scare the $#!+ out of yourself...

That right there is the 'Do-over' button. When you're out on the trail and do something stupid with your jeep, you just press the button and get a do-over. Give it a try.

I agree with the starter button. My ex wife had a VW rabbit that refused to start with the key. So since her parents were not to smart and their mechanic was a hack they just had him wire in a hot start button rather than fix it.

Alarm systems have a button to sync the remotes and to disable the alarm. Usually not hidden too well. Mine is in a similar location.

This is called a valet switch. Even so, that would be a fancy valet switch!

I haven't has time till now since I got the tj. Finally, seat belted in, girlfriend with her finger on the second "1" for "911", I pressed the button.

Aftermarket horn.

Thanks for the input. I'm learning more about the tj everyday now. Though I loved the simplicity of the computerless yj, I'm loving the power and comforts of the tj more and more.
