What is this wire for??

It is a red 14g wire that come out the back of the under hood fuse block.

It is on one of the lugs that the positive battery cable is bolted to inside the fuse block.

It runs back into what appears to part of the stock harness and then runs down the firewall and under the LJ on the driver side.

I have not crawled under to trace it yet, but was hopping someone would save me the trouble
Thanks! 2004 LJ

That doesn't sound like a factory wire, at least not a 14 gauge wire coming off the back of the Power Distribution Center.

When you have a choice, buy American.

It sounds like someone ran a Constant Power source from the battery to something in the dash. I would trace it. If you determine its not being used, I would remove it. It's not nice to leave hot wires lying around in your car.

Well I traced it down and found it is indeed a factory wire. It runs to a 20amp fuse on the firewall and then back under the Jeep.

It may have been dealer installed. It goes back to a seven pin trailer plug that has the Chrysler logo on it with a weather pac plug. The harness is exactly like the other factory wire harness's and appears to be factory installed.

Did Jeep have a trailer towing option on the LJ's??
