What Kind of LIft is this....pics!

I was wondering if you guys could help me solve this puzzle I bought this used and it already had it installed, just wondering what is was, and what would I need for a BB lift of maybe 2 inches or so would I need to re-gear or what thanks you guys!

no problem. Sure looks like a Procomp 4'' lift. but are to tell from the pictures. Does it have any stickers or logo on any of the control arms or shocks?

Ok cool no there arent any stickers or anything thats what confused me, man I appreciate the help what would I need to do for a BB lift, would that help me go up in tire size?

You do know once you go to 35's you need to look into steering upgrades and break upgrades? For safety

I did not know that , hmmm maybe its not worth the money at the moment is that pretty expensive to do, well what about just the BB in itself I didn't know what that involves, maybe I'll hold off until I have it saved up

i may be wrong but i think the only lift option you really have IF you do have a 4" now is a body lift. but i wouldnt go more then 1.25 because i have seen some that look really wierd and tonka like...lol

Honestly if it's wheeled a lot in tight spots then yes you will want to upgrade the smaller tie rod/drag link, but your steering will be fine with 35's. The TJ's brakes also are adequate for the larger tires. I ran 35's on mine as a DD for 4 years with stock brakes.

I pretty much agree with you. Those look like ProComp shocks to me. They should have numbers stamped into the bottom of the can.

If you already have 4" of lift and want to add 35's then I'd also say a 1" body lift will be your easiest solution. You won't have to worry about shock lengths with that. If you do spacers on top of your lift coils then you'll be using up more of your relative shock travel.

I was adding the "For Safety" I don't want the gilt of someone slamming into a car infront of them not knowing that it will take alittle more pedal and distance to stop.

I'm doing the "PC" crap.


Also agreed.. do a 1'' bl to clear 35's not a bb atop your 4'' springs.

And if I'd have thought about it I would've added that while an upgraded steering setup wouldn't be mandatory to 35's it should be a secondary upgrade and high on the list for after adding the 35's.

Pic 1 & 2 look like Rough Country control arms but the TC drop isn't an RC.

That looks like more than an inch of spacers in that transfer case drop. You might want to look into a slip yoke eliminator and CV rear drive shaft if your going to run 35's Then you can lose the spacers and regain some of the lost ground clearance. Your going to want to check out what rear axle you have, It looks like you have a Rubicon with Dana 44s, if so your in good shape as long as you don't get into anything to crazy. Most TJ's have Dana 35 rear axles, your going to want to look into upgrading or replacing the Dana 35 with a Dana 44 or Ford 8.8 out of a 96 or newer Explorer.

Once you get into 35's you start asking for trouble. Your going to get larger tires, then your going to need new gears.

There's a few ways to run 35's with a 4" lift. You can put longer bump stops in and loose some of your upward flex. You can put a 1.25" body lift on, I wouldn't go any higher than that, it starts to look bad after that. There's high line kits, you can raise your fenders to allow larger tires, it's around $2,500 for the high end kits, some people will do it themselves, I personally don't like the way it makes the Jeep look either way. Your going to need a rear tire carrier if you want to have a spare on the Jeep, the tailgate will not hold it.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it by any means, 35's on a TJ is perfect, it's just not cheap.

The springs look like Rubicon Express. Mine are silver. The shocks are from somebody else.

looks like RE and RC mixed.. with a Drop Pittman arm (DPA). and home made TC drop..

I could have wrote this whole sentence in acronyms.. sigh.. eitherway.. at least you got a lift with a D44 rear end..
