I have no idea. I think I shall take it to a nearby 4 x 4 specialty shop and ask them to pull the thing apart and measure the bearing. Thanks.

Yep, that's it. They are known for having a few bad batches of bushings. The problem may be finding replacements... They are still shut down and won't re-open until August (so they say). Maybe there is a vendor that has some in stock or some other company that makes a suitable replacement.

Not necessarily. I have heard some shocks are installed with silver part up, white part down, and vice versa. I have Pro Comp shocks and there is no way to install them with white part up....I suppose hers are ones that install white part down....

Eee gads, didn't intend to start such an informative and entertaining shock discussion.

I did receive some help from several posters who believe I may have a Rubicon Express lift, most likely a 3.5" Super Ride or Super Flex kit. I have printed the photo that Cons_table posted along with the written data to take to my mechanic. Let's see how smart he really is.

Thanks for all the help to a damsel in distress.

Well, prior to my TJ, I've had a Willys, a 5, two 7's, and this is my 2nd Wrangler.

So I say, "Jeeps ARE for Girls".

Thanks to all......

Idahonetto, I wanted to add one thing that I forgot to mention to you yesterday: The shocks are not from Rubicon Express, I would guess that they are made by Pro-comp if they have "Explorer" stamped on them.

Not sure about the shocks, most Rubicon shocks are silver. But, the springs, controll arms and the sway bar quick disconnects looks just like my Rubicon Express 4 1/2" lift. They may be somebody elses shocks with an RE kit.

The shocks are ProComp. I need 2 Large Builder Bushing Kits and all site that sell the Rubicon model are sold out and/or out of stock. Looking for similar manufactured by others but am having little luck.

I've got the same ones in my 04 Rubicon - so did we figure this out?

Think the general concensus is Rubicon Express, but the kit doesn't come with shocks, so they could be anyones.

ok - here's my quandary and I am somewhat apprehensive but I need new shocks - do I order a 2-2.5" lift or 3.5-5" lift shock? I am looking at some OME and want to order the right size so I am not sitting under the jeep with my thumb up my butt with the wrong stuff!

is there any way to tell?
I have a 2004 Rubicon running 255/85R16 BFG MT (old school) I am attaching a pic - hope that helps the Guru's here in helping me

ok, after searching online with minimal luck I decided to call and got the answer I have been looking for - I spoke with ProComp today and they advised that it's one of there's an ES3000 for a 4" lift

link to some additional info - Pro-comp shock dimensions chart? - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

well the ProComp shocks ES3000 for a 4" lift are kaput so I priced out some replacements - Rancho, BDS, and OME... with all the shocks priced out the OME were at the top of the list - with a great reputation for quality and the difference being as little as $8 a shock it wasn't hard to figure which way to go. I picked up 2 cans of PB Blaster and will soak them tonight in preparation of the FUn coming this should help the wobble and vibration shaking me to crap
