What kind of speakers do you have in your TJ?

My girlfriend surprised me with $300 cash for Valentines day for me to put towards my new jeep.

I have a list of upgrades in store for her as soon as I sell my old pick up, but I don't think I can stand the stock stereo any longer so I think I will be spending the V-day cash on new speakers.

I have a head unit in mind...
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-KD-R730BT-...=3AA7Z78CX4L65

But I am torn on speakers. I know I want 5.25" in the front and back.

What do y'all have in your TJ's?

I went with Kicker 5.25" coaxials front and rear. I think they are the Kicker ES525 series.

I got this and am very happy. Got alpine speakers all around and a 10" subwoofer ported in the back with a 600watt amp. Kenwood Excelon KDC-X395 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com It has 3.5mm input on front, which is nice.

I ordered these.
Orion XTR52 for the front

And Orion XTR522 for the pods in the back.

I also ordered an 800 watt class D Pioneer amp for a sub.

I plan to use the 800 watt flat Pioneer sub in a box built into the rear seat.

I think I will use this amp to push the Orion's. Mostly because of it's small foot print.
http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Storm-La...=3AA7Z78CX4L65

I saw something about putting the amps in the console between the front seats... anyone try that?

My Ranger has a Pioneer Premier head unit, great radio.

I almost went with Infinity speakers, had them in the cart. I then saw the Orions on sale and I liked the look of them. Never had Orion but I have heard good things. We'll see.

Stock speakers and a Sound Ordinance powered subwoofer, with a sony deck that only uses an ipod tray but puts out 4volts for the subwoofer, sounds great! didn't try it topless yet but I will soon. The only bad thing with the subwoofer is it dosent have mounting points its supposed to sit under the seat... i'll fab something when it gets warmer though

I have seen a few people use the subwoofer style I have by mounting them to the rear tail gate, the subwoofer I have is a sound ordinance, but the Boss, and maybe the other cheaper brand "under seat" subwoofers can be mounted just about anywhere, mine is so small it can fit under the seat, but than again if you want bass that shakes everything this isnt for you =p

I have a Pioneer head unit with Infiniti speakers in my dash and sound bar. The speakers sound very good, very clear. I can hear anything I am playing even while I am driving 85 miles an hour down the highway. I do want an amp though.

I have no problem recommending Infiniti speakers but if you have the option to go with Kicker then I would pick them over anything else.

I'm running 5.1 Marine Grade Polks particularly since my last set deteriorated due to the elements. I also went with different sizes for the front and rear for a better range of sound. Not a lot of people like 4x6 speakers but I actually love mine in the dash. They are rated at a high RMS than the 5.25s in the sound bar. I didn't bother with 6.5's because I have a sub for depth. Good luck with your hunt!

The speakers in the dash are gone...and it's the stock speakers in the sound bar. I guess that is an open invitation for new stuff....

What sizes will fit in the dash, and soundbar?

Mavis and MTX make adapters for 5.25 in the front and put 6.5 in your sound bar.

My suggestion is Polk DB525 for the front with an adapter, speaker baffle and harness adapter for the wires. As for rear,Polk DB 6501 for sound bar.
Both are Marine Grade and can be rained on so they are perfect when you take your top off the jeep.

Good Discussion on installs:http://www.wranglerforum.com/f40/amp-placement-119244.html

I've got Elemental Designs e3.65i components going into Q-forms kickpanel enclosures this week sometime. They'll have a WetSounds synMicro amp on them. Then I'll have a Elemental Designs 13Ov.2 sub in a ported enclosure and an Elemental Designs nine.2x on it. Dash speakers will be unhooked and soundbar speakers will be faded out unless I have backseat passengers that want them on..

Sony Xplod in the dash speakers, Panasonic generics in the sound bar - much better than stock!

Thinking about a sub, seems silly in a Jeep but it would be nice to have some bass.

I have.....

Memphis PR 5 1/4 comps in the dash
Memphis PR 6 1/2 comps in the rollbar
Memphis PR 4x400 class a/b amp powering them
Memphis M series 10 sub
Memphis SR 1x500 class d amp powering the sub

Pioneer 710 (i think) head unit

If i had it to do all over i would use a JL 900/5 HD amp costs a bit more but well worth it u only need to run 1 amp and it fits all under the dash and great sound

All in all good install and sounds great also have a friend helping me out with adjustments. Hes the world champ in SQ
