What lift would you get?

1997 tj Se. 33x12.5x15 duratracs

2" skyjacker bb

In the process of fixing the previous owners mistakes, just removed a 3" body lift and installed a 1" rokmen body lift.

I'd like to replace the suspension with something legit and not plastic spacers.

I'm flexible on price of the lift, but my question is what would you get for my application?
I go on trails and do some mud, and a lot of street.

2.5" OME lift with nitro shocks and Metalcloak trackbars. Along with that 1" bl you've got, it's a great combo for those 33's.

Well I would think about where you are wanting to go with your Jeep mods. Are you going to be going bigger at some point or are you planning on sticking with 33's?

Also are you wanting to upgrade the suspension components or just add some lift?

- What is your budget including installation if you are not doing the work?

- What size tires are those?

- There have been a few recent very long threads on recommendations. You have to be realistic and consider how you are looking to use the Jeep (to full articulation and capability or just mild use?)

If you're sticking with 33's for now, a 2.5" or 3" lift is all you need. Get some springs with the appropriate spring rate for what you've got on your jeep, get some good riding shocks (bilsteins, OME), MC track bars, and some extended swaybar links or a Currie AR if you've got the cash.

Edit: Just saw your budget, stick with the regular extended swaybar links.

That'll set you up to do many other mods down the road (like a TT, gas tank skid, etc.) and you'll have a jeep that will perform great on and off the road.

I've found the Zone 3" suspension kit. 470 dollars shipped, with nitro shocks. Think I will go that route

You already have a 1" BL.........so best route is probably gonna be the 2" OME springs and shock kit. Springs use factory rates, and shocks are great DD shocks that will be good for light duty off road adventures.

I can't see that right now because I'm on my phone. But I look at lifts as functional components. The looks is just a side effect. But what kind of lift do you have right now? Spacer on stock coils?

Jk front spring with skyjacker 2" puck
And oem rear springs with 2" puck
Nitro shocks. It rides ok but even with my flat fenders I only have 2-3" of flex room..
I think it would be more fictional with a 3" lift and level front

Do you have flat fenders, or flat fender flares? And those spacers are your problem. The rear springs are probably sagging and the JK springs might not be the correct rate for your TJ. Get some proper lift springs under there and you'll be impressed. And the OME kit is 2.5", not that much different than the 3" Zone kit when you consider quality of parts.

Hmm.. Yeah I know my springs need to go. And shocks are old and could use a new set. And bushwhacker flares..

I'll look Into the kits, maybe I just need new springs and shocks (maybe cheaper than a "lift kit")

Looks spot on to me......has correct rake, definitely doesn't need much more "lift". A 2" OME spring lift though will in reality probably give you a lil over 2.5" lift. Remember you are using pucks with worn springs/shocks most likely.

Yeah bushwhacker flares aren't flat fenders. Just FYI.
And get the idea of a lift "kit" out of your head. Those don't exist. Buy products that can support the wheel travel you want and products that don't have major interference problems. Make sense? That's why I've suggested the OME lift and shocks, MC track bars, and JKS extended swaybar links. That will be a great performing lift for a relatively low cost. And if its out of your price range, wait a little longer and save a few more hundred. It'll be worth it.

Well I'll start gathering quality parts for a 3" suspension lift.. I think that would look and preform the best with my 1" bl and 33's.

That's fine. Just remember that prep, your research in this case, is key. As long as you look into things, ask questions, and find answers, there's nothing you can't do to your jeep that won't improve the performance. Good luck on your mods.

How do I know what spring rates to get? I have a heavy front and rear bumper and may get a winch in the future. I want springs that are gonna be standing proud
