What long arm kit is this

I found this pic on the web. The long arm kit seems to have shorter control arms than any I have seen. I don't want super long arms. This one looks about where I would like to be with the control arm length. Any ideas of what kit this is?

It's an LJ so they might just look shorter. Grey arms usually indicate Rubicon Express but I could be worng.

I dunno what they are but those arms are definitely not made by Rubicon Express. RE doesn't make mid-length arms, they only make standard length or long arms that bolt to the t-case skidplate.

I have seen a bunch of long arm kits for the LJ including the RE and they all have long rear arms that go almost to the middle of the door. The front look just a bit shorter than what I have seen but they are still noticeably shorter.
Even if you don't know the exact lift but know of a shorter long arm kit that I may be interested in, please pipe in.

Do you have other pictures or a link to the jeep you posted?

The color is just paint...they could of easily painted them to match the jeep. Or just because they wanted too.

It's a short arm kit on a LJ. It's prob a Rubicon Express 3.5 inch or 4.5 inch short arm.

Nope...the rear control arm is way to forward on the frame to be the stock location for the LJ. As is the front to far back to be stock. This lift pictured above is either a custom "MID" arm or mid arm system of sorts.

Factory control arm location on LJ here...

I am not aware of a "short" long arm kit for the TJ/LJ. Most kits are one or the other. The reason for the similarity in the long arm kit lengths out there is simple. It's about geometry, functionality, and safety. First you want the kit you manufacture to perform as you advertise it, then you want it to fit the needs of the particular customer's rig or project/budget, lastly you want it to be safe. I doubt there is more than 1" difference in where most manufactured long arm kits mount on the non axle side for the reasons stated. When there is a formula that works, not many want to change it.

Now where you get into differences is when you start seeing angled or bent arms for higher clearance etc. The geometry is still there but they take a different shape arm to get there. Then of course the whole tri-link and then the cross between 4link rear and tri-link. Check out Rock Krawler's products here and PM me you're if interested in more information.

From what I have been able to research about most long-arm kits for the LJ is that it is just a TJ long arm kit with longer rear arms to bridge the gap. That seems more like they don't want to build an LJ specific complete system. They just want to modularise what they already have made to fit something else. I am sure they are fine and safe and all the other stuff but ideal... no. I want a lift of about 5.5 inches and the long arm kits are way too stretched out for that height in my opinion. It seems logical that for a good LJ lift it should use the same length control arms as the TJ lift and just move the mount points to fit. Not the other way around. I would say convenience plays a bigger role in the development of these lifts.
Here is a TJ with the geometry I am looking for:

Doesn't somebody make this same geometry for an LJ?

Here is what mine looked like flexed out with an RE 5.5" Tri-Link kit on it. Looks like you may be looking at a custom linked job if you don't want an off-the-shelf product.




Check out the Clayton 5.5" kit for the LJ here. Look at the two pics top row left and center.

Maybe that is more towards what you're looking for.

I'd have to say it's a Rough Country or Skyjacker long arm "upgrade". It retains the stock skid plate and puts a skidplate spacer in there with control arm mounts attached to it.

The rear arms probably look short because they are just TJ long arms used on an LJ, where LJ long arms are usually much longer. Or he has the long arms up front and has yet to put in the rear long arms because of a required truss for the uppers. I've known a couple of guys to do this while upgrading little by little.

Related question. Long control arms let the axle sag lower. Is that the main perk of LA kits or am I wrong?

Main advantage is decreasing the control arm angle in relation to the ground. Being more parallel gives a smoother on road ride. And the longer arms also have a larger rotational movement compared to short arms.

Think of the frame end of the control arm as the center of the circle, and the arm is the radius. If the arm was short it would quickly come down and start to tuck under the Jeep with little movement. A longer arm keeps the end out farther away in the same amount of movement. Make sense?

I think those are the closest to the same as this lift but those lifts are still a little long. I could possibly go for one of them if I can't find this actual lift. Maybe it is even a custom job.

that picture is not detailed enough to make a determination on what it is. get better pictures.

if you want mid-arms, look at Clayton off-road. or just buy some mounts from RuffStuff or whoever, and make your own arms. Or have Rokmen make custom arms for you.

sure looks like the OE mounts to me . Awful far away from the skid plate as far as I can tell from the pic and pretty steep angle on the arms for how tall it is .As mentioned earlier its not close enough to make a positive ID

Stock mounts are directly below the bottom of the fender flares so this is at least 10 inches further along the frame rail.

Unfortunately I can't get better pics. This was an image I found and added to my wrangler website back in July and I have no documentation where I got it. It may have been submitted.
It does look like it has the same type of bracket as the Rough Country long arm upgrade but longer.
I can't find the mid-arms you are talking about from Clayton.

I don't really want to deal with a custom build here if I can help it, but it might be an excuse to get that welder I have wanted.
