What mileage do you get?

I filled it up, and went on a long trip with softtop, and full doors on. Average speed on hwy was 67, 70mph. And drove a little in city, around 235 miles light came on. Is this normal? I understand I am not driving an aerodynamic car, but isn't this mileage bad?????

Thanks in advance

nope that's about right, Jeep and gas mileage shouldn't be in the same sentence. I've got a 2.4L and I go about 280 on a full tank on a good day.

I average 13-14 mpg. Less if I'm going into a headwind.

Remember, with Jeeps it's not MILES PER GALLON, it's SMILES PER GALLON.

Edit- My Jeep is an '05 with the 4.0L, 4-speed auto, 3.73 gears, and 33" tires.

I don't hammer on it and I cruise in 6th gear at 55 most of the time. If I step on it or went wheelin I'm lucky if I get 200. But I can usually get 270-280 out of it if i'm a good boy.

My 4L gets an average of 13.5 mpg. That is a combination of city and highway.

01 4.0, 5spd. 31'' tire. 3.73 gears (IIRC) I usually get 16-18mpg combined city/hwy...I seem to actually get better than that in city only. (haven't gone a full tank w/o getting into the highway a few times, so I don't know that for sure)

That's pretty much exactly what I'm getting. Do you have an auto or a manual?

I run 100 miles a day to the office and back. The low fuel light comes on at around 260 miles and when I get home and fuel up it takes 15 gallons. It's its almost all highway and I maintain 65.

If I do a lot of city then it really sucks.

Wow!

I thought I was going crazy, I'm thinking of putting my Sport in AA. I went on a road trip last week and only got about 220 before my light came on. Of course here in MT we average 75-80 MPH and it requires 4th gear to be used waaaay too often. This last summer I spent most of my time at Flathead lake and drove to and from the bar/marina/glacier park all summer and averaged 18/19 mpg, no joke. I will prob never see that again. Of course there was a ton of -I've had one to many beers so I'll drive extra cautious on this deserted to laner moments.

I don't think about my gas mileage any more. I know its low (13mpg) but there is not a whole lot I can do about it except keep the revs down. When I drive I just enjoy driving my Jeep. I have had it for over three years now and I still get a kick when driving...every day, everytime without fail.
The only thing I worry about is that time in the future when gas will be too expensive to own a Jeep.
