What part is missing and does anyone know what it is called?

It is not the entry guard as that is still there. It is some sort of plastic on the inside. It is not totally necessary unless you have all little boys who step on the side when they get in and rip the carpet.

is the carpet something you did? I have never seen any fit up on the side before.

Don't believe I've ever seen anything on the passenger side. The drivers side has a channel for wiring. But I've been wrong before...

I think that carpet is a Sahara option. Mine is curled over just like the OP pic.

I must. I have a black interior too. And now that my fenders are grey they match it is a sporhara.
