Hi everyone I just bought a red 99 tj and I am ready to start adding some parts I just cant decide what to add first. I want to lift it but I don't want to go to high because its a daily driver. If you can throw me some ideas that would be awesome.
If you do a 2.5" lift you can run 31s and it will still behave on the pavement. If you're wanting to run larger tires than that you're going to have to spend considerably more for it to have decent road manners.
Best advice I can give is when you decide what you want to do research the hell out of all your options (there are tons out there) and do it right the first time.
First thung you should do is figure out the one thing that comes to mind when you think of any Jeep. Then do your homework! There are a 1000 and 1 things you can do to it! I wanted to be able to hear some good tunes while blazing a new trail in the Rocky Mountains, and when driving to work every day, so I put in an Alpine 9886 stereo and some decent overhead speakers. (Didn't go too crazy, but happy over all). It's all about you and what you want to be driving down the road! Have fun with it!!
I bought seat covers and installed the Scangauge that came out of my now-sold Supercrew. Unsure of the previous maintenance, I also changed the oil and tranny fluids and topped off the rear diff. I do like my rigs to look good, but the mechanicals take priority.
Just drive it and use it for the type of trails you like. You will know what upgrades you need by necessity. Everyone has a different idea what works best so go enjoy it and decide as you go.
I would go with a smaller lift if its a daily driver, and some off road tires. Mine is my daily driver also and i have a 3.5 inch lift and 32" off road tires, and it drives like a champ!
Here's the tj guys. I really like the look of the tube fenders but I wanna keep the tires under 32"s. What would you guys say with 32's and metalcloak tubes?

IMO the tube fenders and 32"s would probably need a lift...and I am the type who only wants to do things once....So I would go with a good quality suspension lift.....but than that would probably have me thinkin' 33's and unless you are going to cut the flares/ wheel wells out, gonna need BL as well as suspension to still have good manners on road, now it is getting a little costly.....
maybe the wheel it and see what you need is the best advice......
What do you think of the skyjacker budget boost since its probably not worth spending big bucks into a DD/weekend warrior? I found one for $200 and a set of goodyear mtr's 32x11.50 for $700 and metalcloak overline tubes for $599. This is the look i really like but I wanna know how the budget boosts are?
