What size spare

Will a 31x10.5x15 tire on a 15x7 wheel fit on the spare tire mount of a 97 TJ?

Yes it is true!

The Rubicon runs a 265 / 16 on the stock mount it is the same as a 31".

No problem; but I dont think you can get any bigger without relocating the bracket.

No you can get bigger on there. Depending on the wheelin I am doing that day I will run my 35 spare on the stock tire carrier. Besides, I think it helped the GF not take it over backwards on this one.

Nope, but she likes to think it is. Of course she isn't helping pull the tranny out of it right now either.

So you run a 35 on the rear door, how much has it sagged. Mine sagged from having a 33 on there for a while.

Can't remember now, but you might have to take off the little bumpers on the door to fit your 31.

I ran a 33x12.50 for a while with the use of an extended mount for comparison... which in turn after about a year or so, caused a stress crack on the stock metal carrier and well it went in the trash.. also known as the basement. The tail gate itself didn't seem to have any issue from this.

Mine hasn't really sagged much at all. My tire actually sits on the bumper so there isn't a lot of bouncing up and down on the tire carrier.
