Same on my 04. The PO had the hooks facing out like a bull's horn. One of the welds that hold the nut in the framerail broke when I flipped them so I only have one bolt on that hook now. So it is just for looks now.

Those bolts also hold your bumper on. Trade them out for grade 8 hex head bolts to save you the trouble with them in the future. Also T-55 is the stock size.

Just bought a True Hi9 rear and a D44 front, both with ARB's and 4.88 gears!! Check out the build!

X3. Think I paid $7 at Ace for all 4.

The hooks may not fit with the plastic bumper guards on, but they come with a couple bolts.

I left the torx for one reason. It also holds my winch plate on. A would be winch thief will be less likely to have a T-55 than a 3/4" socket.

If I were a winch thief... Hmmmmm , I'm pretty sure I'd have all the tools necessary to get the winch off real quick... 3/4" socket, t-55 torx, a big breaker bar, electric speed wrench, some big side cutters, etc etc.. Seriously dude, do winch thieves exist?

Yep. Park your little Pennsyltucky Jeep anywhere in downtown Charlotte on a friday night and see what comes up missing. It's easy to hide a crescent wrench in yo baggy pants. A specialized tool set, not so much. Besides, ghetto thugs normally arent jeepers and don't know that a T-55 is what the stock bolts are.

2 questions then,,, what exactly is a "downtown" and,,,, where would these ghetto thugs fence such a thing? Though, come to think of it, a winch would look pretty cool on one of those cheap ass tricked out little rice burners....
