what spedometer gear do I need

I am installing 33" tires on my 05 unlimited. Can I just put in a new spedometer gear and if so how many teeth? Or do I have to buy a superlift true speed for 200+. I have 4sp auto with 3.73 on a dana 44 33" bfg km2

33" with 3.73 = 31 tooth

Highly recommend regearing to 4.56 or 4.88 if you have the funds. I haven't yet, but I've been running mine with the OD off & it's a ton better at 60mph. Still getting the same mpg. I think from the motor not having to lug to maintain cruise speed.

Quadratec & 4WD have the charts on the items detail page.

Only a Rubicon requires an electronic device. All other TJ's have a mechanical gear and pickup. 31 is correct but caution on using Quadratc's chart. I don't know if they ever fixed it but they had a wrong chart for a long time.

I got my new spedometer gear from quadratech today. When I went to install it the gear is much smaller than the one I took out so much that I could not adust it to make it come in contact whith the out put gear. Did quadratich sell me the wron part again?

I have an 05 LJ as well with 33's. Your tires probably don't measure out to a true 33, I got a 32 tooth speedo gear and mine is dead on

This one

PPR Industries 30910632 - 32 Tooth Speedometer Gear for 93-06 Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec

And the one they sent you looks like the correct one for a 31

You have to rotate the housing. There are number ranges on it. You have to line it up with the correct range.

Confusing! They have two 31 tooth gears that say they are for a TJ. Nothing int he description saying anything special for either.

This is the one I bought (the other one from what you got) mine works fine.

Yes the gears are different sizes (according to the number of teeth it is supposed to have). Did you set it to the correct range, tighten it up and drive it?
