What the FXXK, and other odd tales....

Backstory:

Last week I had to put a pint on my rear diff because the pinion seal was fubar. I broke down and had it done at work (I work at a Subaru dealership now). He put the seal in, and buttoned it all up. It was up on a lift. I get it down and take her for a test spin.

Symptom:

So I'm driving around and the front end is poppin' and the brakes are pulsing and it's feeling really strange as I'm on the way to pick up my wife. I get out of the Jeep and get under her with a flashlight and check her out, and everything is fine!! So began the headscratching. Later on we're drivin' down back to our place and I'm being really careful on the brakes so we don't lose control. One thing leads to another and I have to make a hard stop to avoid a car and..... nothing! It's acting just like it was before with NO ISSUES at all!!! I am at least 5 different kinds of confused.

Hypotheses:

Upon later inspection it seems that my front sway bar links have gone to shit... I'm betting the sway bar popped upwards on 'em while it was on the lift... then popped back down on the links as I was driving.

Thoughts??

If your swaybar links are stock, than I wouldn't doubt that would cause your popping. I had to replace mine recently because the driver's side link had broken right at the bushing; it was clunking around like mad when I was on a trail. After a bunch of headscratching, I finally saw the problem when I rocked the Jeep back and forth by the front fender while I stood in front of it looking at everything. I could clearly see the link separate and then clunk when it came back down. I replaced them with the JKS quicker disconnects; better off-road performance and were very simple to install.

Your brake problem still confuses me though...
