What to do about wet seats?

I had my first encounter with a topless rain shower today. I bought some seat covers for front + back, and they stopped most of the rain from getting to the actual seats...the seats are just damp. But, it also didn't rain very hard. I'd like to plan for when it does rain hard and when I have my top (its a hard top) at home. I thought that putting some can liners (the giant garbage bags) between the seats and seat covers would work, or maybe a thin tarp or space blanket. Any other ideas??

There is a lot of other more important things that you don't want to get wet. Get a proper top so the water stays away from the inside. In a emergency situation a cheap tarp or big 55gal trash bags would be sufficient.

I figured that the seats were the least of my concerns; I have a bikini top but I just didn't have it on (or with me) that day. What else do I need to worry about- I'm not sure what clocksprings in the steering column are (earlier in the thread) but luckily all of the electronics are fine. I just do NOT want any rust in the tub, I don't have a welding rig of any kind.

Just happened to me a week ago, it seemed like it only sprinkled for the afternoon and the next thing you know my check engine light was on and my TJ died at idle and cut out while driving. It turned out to be the clock spring broken, screwing with signals from the throttle position sensor. Autozone told me it was the TPS, and after I bought one and replaced it they told me a second time it was the TPS. After some research decided to replace the clock spring and it fixed everything!

You need to send the water to the ground. Liners, tarps etc between the seats will just fill and spill in a heavy rain. Be better to get a bikini top or some variation which gives the coverage you want. For parked you can get a trail cover which fits fast and easy. Go to Bestop or Quadratech and see the options.

The interior should not be an issue for rust. Rust needs bare metal and Jeep does a good job painting the interior.

My Jeep gets wet regularly. Even the spot under my feet is rust free alto the paint is worn away. I added some industrial matting to give an air space below the carpet. Dries out way faster now.

But yes, the dash/electronics is the main concern.

I got a 10x12 or 10x14 tarp. That and 5 bungies and my interior is safe. You can roll that up and cram it under the back seat.

Won't help while you're driving, obviously.
