what to do, what to do......?????

I have a stock 2000 sport. 35 rear, 30 front. I have an 8.8 with 4.56 and ARB air under another project of mine (ford ranger) i can pull out and put under the jeep.

option 1: install gears and a rear lock rite in the stock axles. 1300.00
option 2: install 8.8 rear (will need brackets), and a G2 (ARB and 4.56) up front. 3500.00.

i NEED gears (33's on 3.07's) asap.

I just cant justify 3500.00 on this jeep. I'll prolly wheel it 2-3 times a year, and when i do, i'm not a hard driver.

so, what should i do? any other options i dont know about? maybe a used front 44....

running 33's you are fine with the D35/D30, if you're worried, invest in the super 35 kit and gears. Would be much cheaper than swapping the axles.

keep your current d30 or get an hp30. dont waste the money on a g2(guessing you are talking about the 44)

that will save you about $2k

If that axle in the Ford Ranger is stock, then it is different than the 8.8 of the Explorer. Might be worth pulling the axle shaft and check that it's a 31 spline count and not a 28.

Not if he adds a locker... 33's locked on a Dana 35 is asking for trouble.

If he already has the axle with locker installed, it would be a whole lot cheaper to buy and weld on tj mounts (~$250) than to buy a super 35 kit (~$1,000)

Why bother with the G2 up front for what you plan to do? The D30 front will hold 33s even locked. New brackets and then regear the front and be done.
