What to do with my Jeep on a budget.

New to the forum but here's what I have. Last November I bought a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 170,000 miles. It has the 4.0 and a 5 speed. I've been thinking about what I should do to it and would really like others opinions. Everything on my Jeep is stock except for the top which I have a Bestop SuperTop that has a tear in the driver side window that I need to replace but I don't know if I should just get a Bestop SuperTop Replace-a-top or if I should look into something else. The fenders are all dented in from the previous owner so I would like to change both of them out I also need flares. After the big stuff is done I just don't know what I should from there after. Start with a lift right away? I do want to do mudding. I live in the good ol' midwest. My Jeep has very little rust it looks like it just rolled off the line 2 years ago. I don't know guys just looking for opnions right now I work a minimum wage job at 35 hours a week and am in high school so saving up isn't too hard I just really can't do anything too big. I spent $3500 on my baby.

This is the pic I took the night I got itt

It was duct taped like that when I bought it

The one on the left is mine the background one is my older sister's

Sorry I forgot to specify but I had all that done the day after I got it I had all my fluids changed, I put new tires on it, new brake pads and calipers. When I got the tires changed I had them do an alignment. I have not done the differential fluid or transfer case fluid though. Thanks!

X2

Also some cheap mods could include:
- mirror relocation brackets(if you want them when the doors are off)
- clutch bypass if you get tired of pushing in the clutch everything you start it. (Mildly useful)
-2" budget boost or a small lift.
-a windjammer and bikini top with a smittybuilt c-res.
-31"- 33" tires (if cash permitts) (33"s will require new to you wheels or wheel spacers.) 31 if you don't want it to feel sluggish.
- turn signal lenses (clear) (I like black too)
- an iSimple aux input for the music!

--ok, I just mentioned half of my jeep. Haha. Sorry.
Most are pretty cheap mods.

Wait on major upgrades(large lifts, gears, lockers, over 33" tires, etc until you think you need them off road. There's a lot that goes into making it work right and could cost you a new axle, axle shafts, new spider gears or r&p, tie rods, u joints, etc...and a bad day on the trail.

Moral: have fun, try not to get too over your head in parts(we all do) and enjoy the thrill of all that is wrangler!

PS she's a great looking ride! Mine had 127000 and I paid 9.5k!

I looked into Ebay and found a 1997 2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler 2" Budget Boost Lift Kit w Nitro Shocks | eBay and also a Bestop 52530-15 - Bestop Safari Bikini Tops for 97-02 Jeep® Wrangler TJ - Quadratec. I don't want to get tires because when I bought my Jeep the tires were bald so I had to go out and spend money right away because of winter(I've had her since December just now found the forum..). So I want to eat up these tires a little bit before I decide to change. I got a great deal on some Delta Chaparral MT tires to survive the winter. I never thought about the mirror mover thanks for that!

Here is a short list:
Maintenance first:
Tune-up, fluids changes, balance, rotation, alignment, brakes, battery, etc
Make sure the Jeep is got what it needs first.

Budget stuff you can do yourself:
Pull out the old carpet
Remove factory side steps
Paint/bed-line the chrome around headlights, interior tub, both bumpers, mirrors and brackets. That will give the Jeep a nice re-freshed look and allows you to put your hands on here without going broke.

Look into some of the paracord grab handles as well as the
thread: Cheap, fun creative mods....tons of awesome info in there.
