I take it to an extreme sometimes depending on how much testosterome is pulsing through my veins. Sometimes ill lock up my brakes out of the blue and reach behind me like im getting a gun or bat....really i dont have anything and they panic and run.

i keep a gun in my truck so i cant really do anything incase it escalates. when i had my diesel i had no problem smoking them out though.

i did the get out and ask what someone needs when they honk at you. i was in dc with my dually with stacks. the light goes green arrow some guy in a toyota honks he had been riding my rear for awhile. without thinking i get out run to his door and knock on his glass. i tell him i heard the horn and ask what his emergency is. he just sits there staring foreward white knuckling the steering wheel.

You guys have WAY too many anger issues with tailgaters. The way I see it, they're in a hurry to their graves driving that way. Life's too short to get worked up by them. If they want to tailgate, that's fine. They're going up against box steel, armored gas tank skid, armored corners and 33" tire on the back. It'll be an opportunity for them to buy a new car.

I agree with you for the most part.

The worst Ive ever done to a tailgater is hock a lung cookie at em when they pass. I got a douchebag in a Acura TL the other day. Right on his windshield, too. As he sped off I saw him spray his washer fluid. LOL

People don't usually tailgate me when I have the top down going 75 though a rain storm:-) let's see a Humvee do that!

Sorry they are blurry, hard to take moving pictures in the rain. Notice the standing water and all the rain on the windshield is inside:-) *wavey*

That video was not in Texas. we don't say "aye".

Anywho. I've had one guy who literally tried to ram my Jeep. for some reason I swerved to not get hit (should have let hime hit me.)....anywho I called the cops with his direction and plate number.

I didn't even do anything to him. I just didn't turn on a red (with sign that said "no right turn on red".) He honked every 2 seconds while the light was red. when it turned green I went on and made my turn. he turned in behind me (riding my ass). I just didn't accelerate, so he flew up next to me, gave me the finger, then jumped on the throttle and swerved to hit me.(I jumped on the brakes, and he went on in my lane w/o injury). looking back I was instantly pissed I didn't let him hit me, as his lincoln aviator is worth way more than my jeep, and I would have had a hay day with his insurance company. (and pressed charges for assault)

...Does this mean you drive around with a bottle full of urine in your car, pretty much all the time?

I have the same problem, since I live in south florida, and everyone is in a hurry, as soon as the light is green they are at 40 mph and gone... and me, in my awesome manual transmission YJ, well, I like to take my time with the gears (it's no race car). I slowly climb up to speed and watch them zoom past me honking, flipping me off. but, when I hit 5th gear.... I'm zooming past them!

I also still get tailgaters! so I do the same as what someone else said, turn up the rock! Blast TDG or Breaking benjamin or Sublime with my eight speaker sound system and that tends to create a hole for me and my monsta!

that is, until another Jeep is right there with me!

I particularly love people that tailgate in small cars.

I just slam on the breaks and watch them swallow their heart as they realize if they accidentally rear end me they'll be chewing on a big black rear bumper. Then it'll be my chance to see how far I can back up the hood of their car in 4-LOW.

For the ones that swerve around and get in front after I slam on the breaks I like to let them get a close-up look at the auxiliary lights in my front bumper when they eventually have to come to a red light. Funny how they quickly decide to switch over to the adjacent lane when the light turns red.

true story.
last year i was leaving my high school and this kid kept on tailing me around the parking lot. i come to the school stop sign to let some of the other cars go by(the kids who have their moms and dads pick them up) anyways. he bumps my bumper. i wasnt really mad because it didnt do anything to my jeep. but this kid is a little punk/bully. so i was thinking in my head what should i do.(with a smile on my face) i put it in reverce my bumper hit his grill and his hood with a pretty good crack and dent, little damage. drove away. that tought him his lesson

Here's a copy of whatI posted on my blog a few years ago when I had been followed extremely close for most of my drive home from work one night:

Did you really think that following me closer than a bumper width most of the way home would get you where you were going any quicker? Give it a break. This is not Nascar. You can not “bump Draft” my car and get to the “finish line” any quicker. This is real life.

And did you happen to see the other car in front of me already going 10MPH over the speed limit? Do you really think that I could go any faster than I already was going with them there in front of me?

Also please keep in mind that flashing one’s high beams does not make my car go any faster. It only irritates me and causes me to go temporarily blind. The end result? I SLOW DOWN. I know this is hard to comprehend.

Anyways, I hope your pizza was still warm when you got home. I would hate to see you eat cold pizza because I was in your way while you were driving home tonight. If for some reason you see my roller skate of a pt cruiser in front of you again you should know what to expect and I trust that you will find a different route home!

I just downshift till im around 30ish under the speed limit.

Cause normally i for about 5 over the normal speed limit so if someone tailgates me i know they have no reason too.

Yep if I have a tailgater that won't get off my rear-end and I'm not driving slower than the flow of traffic, I start slowing down until they give up and pass me on the right. Then I speed back up to what I was cruising at which is usually 70 if it's posted 65.

I'm usually a fairly laid back driver. I let others out of parking lots or side streets and so on.I always leave so I have plenty of time in case of traffic issues. But I do tend to get irritated with tailgater. I can not go any faster then the person in front of me when on a 2 lane road. In the big city they frown on passing in the oncoming lane.

I either do this, or if I'm in a fun mood, I'll push the brake pedal with my left foot just enough to make the tail lights come on but not actually braking, and leave my right foot on the accelerator. It gets them to back off. If the get back on me, I'll do it again. If they don't back off, I push the brakes for real.

Hasn't happened yet, but if they bump me, I'll lock up the brakes and make em tear my rear bumper up and say the guy in front me slammed his brakes.

If people want to get hostile after we stop, I'll simply say "get outta my face a**hole, I'm carrying...". Based on past experiences, this generally shuts tough guys up pretty quick till the cops show up

Honestly i don't like when i get tailgated in my jeep because i don't want it messed up. If i am in my avalanche the you better make sure you have insurance because im always looking for a payday!!! I will slam on the breaks enough to make them get in my back seat. Then ill headbutt the dash steering wheel or something to make me look hurt. lol

Depends...on the highway in the left lane, I move over to let people pass. To me, fast lane means go whatever. If I'm doing ten over and you want to go twenty over, that's your right and ill get out of your way. Any other lane, never had it happen.

Two lane roads, if I'm going under the speed limit, its my responsibility to move over and let them pass. If I'm at or above, then they are out of luck.

I like to downshift as I approach a stop sign or stop light. I slow down but no brake lights lol. Tends to catch them off guard and they back off. Or if I'm at a light, letting off the brakes and rolling back a bit tends to give them a scare. Or I can drop it into reverse which freaks them out as well lol
