Back in my service days, a life time ago, a service buddy of mine drove a beater and kept a brick on the floor board. When people would tailgate him and just refuse to back off he would hold the brick outside the window as a warning to back off, or eat brick. As far as I know he never launched it.

Ahaha I like to slow down till they eventually go around and leave.. I had some punk in an 1980 something honda with that loud annoying coffe can type exhaust and no matter what I did he just tailgated and yelled naughty words so I braked checked him he finally got in the other lane yelled more at me and cut me off but never brake checked me back... I think my 2 1/2' stinger was a deterent. To bad I would have liked to put that honda out of its misery.

And as soon as you're done with that, move right. In most states "following too closely" is exactly as serious of an infraction as "obstructing traffic".
I don't agree with some of the extreme ways of dealing with it but as you saying its alright for someone to be in your back seat with their high beams on when you're going 52 in a windy 45?

When the tops off my rear windshield wiper pisser squirts straight backwards. I don't know if it helps any but it provides me with enjoyment cause i know i hate when i get some wiper fluid spray back at me from other vehicles.

You've been driving in the left lane for a while and someone gets up behind you? You're too slow, get over.

Flinging water, oil, your horse's crap is a criminal offense and you'd be held liable if something was to happen as a result. Brake checking is even worse. When it's a single lane or you're in the right lane going the speed limit, then by all means, tailgaters suck. But if you're the one effing up, and I see it all the time, well a big eff you.
Perfectly Put

Im not saying it's ok to be up in your backseat with high beams on, what I'm saying is don't play games. Driving is dangerous as it is. If someone wants to get by, it's nothing personal against you, both you and the other driver need to safely coordinate an opportunity for the car to pass. If you are on a two lane highway and driving in the left lane, and someone comes up behind you....MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. That is how the autobohn (spelling?) in Germany works. If you are going too slow in the left lane, YOU GET THE TICKET. I guess American drivers are not smart enough to grasp this concept.

I will say in my tj if people go flying by me I go okay w.e. But that was in the 4 cyl now the 6 cyl tj I don't really get passed and I was in town when a guy in a firebird pulled up next to me at a stop light revving his engine he thought he was being cute until I revved up the hemi and I beat him off the line. ( of course he missed a gear but still) felt pretty good.

I don't let tailgaters get to me too much. All I may do is just slow down to 5-10 under the speed limit.

I had some guy in an acura tl get pissed off enough to pass me the other day. The only problem was, it was a two lane road with double yellow lines, in a residential area where the speed limit was 25, and i was already doing 35. Some people just have no patience or common sense. He also blew through the stop sign at the end of the road.

I'm still a newby with my Jeep. Haven't noticed any tailgater problems. I drive speed limit or a little slower. I have noticed people going around me but hasn't seemed to be a problem. I have a small LEO/Cop sticker over left rear brake light but don't think that'd make any difference.

I am not going to lie, I can be one of those tailgaters. Being taught how to drive in Atlanta, it's what people do. I only do it though when someone is driving incredibly slow in the passing lane, and I cannot get by. I also do it when someone abruptly pulls in front of me, causing drastic action. I never honk though, but I may flip on my brights and my windshield lights if they cut me off almost causing a wreck. I am a safe driver though, and when I am going slower on the highway I let other people by that are going at a higher rate of speed.

Over sized mud terrain tires are your friend. I drive slow, but people don't stay behind me for long, especially up close. My Geolander MT+ throws back just about anything I drive over. Mud, water, rocks and small animals, hahaha!

Tailgaters aren't the smartest people, but they learn.

Good Luck!

I do 65 on the highway and obay all most speed limits and ignore tail-gators. BUT if they get on my nerves, I'll wait till I get a red light and back up and hit em when they stop right up on me.
