What to look out for when buying used TJ's

Hey all, so its been a LONG time since I owned a TJ, had a 97, midnight blue, 2 1/2 inch Rancho susp. lift, 33x1250 BFG mud terrians on MT rims...LOVED IT. Sold it about 8 years ago and was pretty sad. Since then Ive owned a few different cars including an 2010 Jeep JK....EH, it was ok, never fell in love with it like I did my TJ. The looks bothered me some, the sheet metal is paper thin, hate the new front side flares and bumpers, HATE the cheap ass plastic grill that is now slanted!!! Just a lot of dislikes. So, here I am ready for another Jeep, and I want a TJ. Its been a while so anything I should be cautious of when buying a used TJ. And yes, I know the obvious ones guys and gals. Thanks for your help!!
P.S.

Attatched is a pic of my 97 TJ

I just bought a used TJ and learned a few things. Closely inspect the condition of the control arm mounts and confirm they are properly attached to the axle. I have seen them break off of a few TJ axles and be very poorly reattached to the axles. Closely inspect the thickness/condition of the frame rails. Lastly, check the condition of the radiator and exhaust systems. Many of the used TJs I looked at either needed them or just had replacements installed. Hope these tips help.

I am looking to buy too so I will be watching this thread. I was warned of the cylinder head thing, if thats what you are referring to 6rings I think it was 99-01 that had the issues.

Check everything out, I got lucky as hell granted I still ended up replacing the radiator 2 times ha ha in 2 weeks! I also found out I have a cally emisions package, knowing what I know now I wish I did not have this... lol But all in all I still love my TJ. Also make sure it has what you want when you buy it, like full doors and a hard top or if you like the soft top and the half doors, because those are expensive add ons! Make sure you check for rust under and around the floor area, check the frame take a key or something sharp and jab at it. Mine was painted over, and there was some rust that I had to grind off Nothing to serious thank god. Good luck

Look for any rewiring or new wiring under the instrument panel, or under the hood, as this might be a sign of recent electrical problems consistent with the ' 95-'08 TJ's

Good luck with getting your TJ. I got my first one last December and it just turned over 180,000 miles. There are ono engine leaks and it doesn't use oil. I am in LOVE!

This is why I am staying away from anything with an aftermarket radio. You never know what kind of knucklehead installed it, could be just like me!
