What to upgrading on a daily driver? - $300

I'm looking for a few upgrades for a daily driver 99 wrangler sport. I'm getting some rust under the doors so I am looking at some black adhesive panels to go over those spots. I'm also thinking about a black step bar because girls are having troubles getting into the jeep. What about some black replacement hinges?

If you guys have any thoughts or like a certain look please let me know. I have around $300 to spend so keep that in mind. Let me know what you think!

That's a good little mod that makes the rig look good with little work. I have/had those Bushwhacker rocker panels -> I now have Rubi rockers. The BW ones are "okay" and look pretty good, but I had issues with the adhesive tape staying put. Had to retape several times b/c the wind pulls it loose and it drove me crazy tapping on the side of the jeep. You can find used Rubi rockers on ebay and craigslist for a fair price. I just picked up a like-new set for $75. They retail for $250+.

Just make sure you treat that rust under the doors before you put anything over it. It will just hold in moisture and hasten the rusting process. Maybe you should spend some of your cash on body work if you have rust.

I agree. Covering rust doesn't stop the process. It'll only get worse. REPAIR, then modify......

my jeep is a daily driver that gets taken into the rocks on weekends. If yours is similar or you plan to even occaisionally take it offroad into the rocks I'd recoomend heavy duty diff covers and some basic upgraded steering like a heavy duty tie rod. And in my opinion it would look good too. that would probably be right around $300 total. Might not stand out as much as some other mods but you'll know they are there and so will other knowledgabe jeepers But I suppose you could paint them and make them ~bling~

regarding side steps, I'd look into dual purpose rock sliders/steps. Jeeperman used to make some cool ones but they went out of business I think olympic makes some "reVersa Bars" which can be mounted as steps... then when you get ready to hit the trails you can unbolt them and bolt them upside down and use them as rocker gaurds. or just get some tub mounted gaurds with bars welded to them (thats what I have and they work as a step too but its a big tall step compared to frame mounted ones)

Good rocker gaurds are usually 3/16 though and run between 250 & 350

ROCKER GUARDS...that is the best money I ever spent.

As mentioned above treat the rust with some Krylon Rust Stop, then paint with black primer, then black paint. So that will cost you about $15, then get you some of the Black powercoated Poison Spider rocker guards with the welded in step bar.

Just my .02

no way! bad advice! you'd have to find a very tall girl and even then she'd still have to hop. i'm 6'4" and still got to step up a bit...you only find a new one if they complain!

but if you do all that work make sure to sand all the rust off first and then treat it.
