what tops for the unlimited

Hello all, I am a new Jeep Wrangler TJ Unlimited owner. Anyways, I got it with a hard top. It has a roof rack on top for more storage space. I was thinking of buying a OEM soft top, but I realized that I would have to take the roofrack off in order to drop the top etc. Anyways, I am looking for something that will keep me dry yet convenient so that I do not have to take the roofrack off. I looked at the Trektop but it seems like some of the reviews I have heard aren't great. Anyway, any top advice would be great. Thanks guys and I look forward to being a part of the forum.

Nothing like you described that I know of.

If you really need a rack, but want a soft top you could go with something like this:

It allows you to put your soft top up and down, but you are talkin' up to a grand depending on which one you go with. You could also go with something like this:

But you lose any rear-view out the back window.

As far as soft tops go, you can get pretty good deals on OEM ones on e-bay. But before I did that, I'd take a good look at what you really want to do with your Jeep. If I had a hard top that I was switching out for the summer, I'd get something like a safari top:

That is what I have and I've run with it all year (without the windjammer or duster). If you install it with a pair of the soft top door surrounds, it will keep you dry through most rain storms.

Lots of things out there to consider... good luck.

factory soft top and hard top are best for weather and such. hard top for the winter, soft top for the summer....especially in Colorado. the bikini/safari/deck over thing is a nice addition for summer, but by no means necessary.
