What trans do I have,confused.

I changed my 5sp trans fluid & was expecting to see 2 larger allen style drain plugs but I had 2,maybe 7/8 plugs.Is that a AX15 like I thought.Its my 98TJ btw.

The '98, should indeed be the AX-15, here's a good write up for service of it and the NV3550 ('00-'04)

'98 would be the ax-5 or ax-15.

The AX-15 you have has hex-head drain and fill bolts. You might be thinking of the allen head plugs used in the 231 t-case that is pictured so much.

Maybe Jerry ,I thought for sure Ive heard there allen bolts.Maybe not.
