What would you consider a fair price?

I am in the process of buyiing a new house and paying some bills off. I am really kicking around selling the Jeep. I only drive it for fun on the weekends and such as I have a company car. I just looked the blue back value up online via KBB. I was surprised to see the KBB value listed now is higher then it was when I bought it 2 years ago. Has the used car market changed that much or is the online KBB a lot different then the data the bank uses? When I bought it in Nov of 2009 the high value was like 8400.00, good value was around 8,000, and poor condition value was 7,000 something (dont remember exactly. The trade in value at the time was like 5500.00. Today the KBB shows the value at top value at $9200, good value at $8900, good $8700 and poor condition $8000.00.

The jeep is a 1999 SE automatic with the 2.5. It only has 80,000 miles on it and it has new (less then 1500 miles) Goodyear 265 75 15's on it. It is black with a soft top that is in good condition. The only modification it has an aftermarket stereo and soundbar but nothing fancy. The body and drive train is bon stock, un-molested. The only issue with the interior is that some of the carpet is warn behind the rear seat. Also has black neoprene seat covers. All new brake lines, no rust or body damage. For those of you have have been buying and selling lately would could I honestly expect to ask/get for the jeep. Here is a picture from when I bought it, the wheels and tires are now different. It now has the 15 inch Canyon look a like wheels that came on the Jeep Grand Cherokee's. The flares have been painted black since these pictures.

Well, here's what KBB lists my 2001 TJ, 115,000 miles for, with only a few mods done to it.

I will say the used "jeep market" not cars has changed. I sold my 2001 TJ with 32s, lifted and only 72,000 miles on it back in 2008. I was only able to get 9800 for it, which was right around blue book value at the time. I just bought another TJ this january, and I couldn't come close to getting into a TJ for what I sold mine for. They were going for 10-12K with 130,000 miles on them. I think the TJ's have appreciated. I personally believe they have appreciated more and more since they no longer produce them.

depends on location really. where i live, that probably would sell for around $7k. the four cylinders aren't very sought after here, so their price is a little lower. i bought a 99 sport last year with 90k miles for $7700 and i think i did pretty well for my area.

Since that stupid cash for clunkers program, all off used car prices rose, it took lots of perfectly good vehicles off the road. I would'nt be suprised if even some Jeeps were scrapped.

Thanks for the input. There is a guy I work with that told me he was interested in it if I ever wanted to sell. I sent him and email and said I would sell to him for $7500. If he is not interested I will probably list it for $8500 and see what happens.

Go to edmunds.com as KBB is the most unrealistic source of values out there. But KBB is AWESOME when you total your car as the insurance company uses their values exclusively. Daughter wrecked her car after paying $2500 for it 3 months before and insurance paid out $5000! (she was fine. Dingaling ran into a post at Walmart at about 10mph!)
