Whats wrong with chrome?

It seems everyone, or at least most people on here hate chrome on their jeep. The "terrible chrome headlight brazils", "anti-chrome", etc... Whats wrong with chrome? I have some on my jeep and I like the way it looks.

I don't like chrome on MY Jeep... my reasons for not liking chrome, take your chrome tube bumper, if you bash that against something and some of that chrome chips off, it looks horrible! BUT If you had a black one, you could just rattle can it back to black and be off. As far as the chrome headlight bezzels I painted mine black because they were the only thing chrome on my rig and looked out of place. Some people are very animated about not liking chrome, to me, it's all a matter of personal preference.

I like chrome on Harleys and classic cars, but not so much on Jeeps.

Chrome doesn't increase horsepower or make for a better 4WD. It's a jeep, jeeps are all about the business of going where no man has gone before, and chrome doesn't provide any assistance in that.

Chrome seems to be an 80's thing, like tube bumpers and nerf bars. Once a staple of the jeep world, now it's back to basics again, as in basic black.

You can put all of the chrome on your Jeep that you like. Its yours. But on mine all that's going on there is black or bedliner. You can repair it yourself and its just simple.

I don't know I've git a black jeep and I've still got the headlight bezels I'm not into the "murdered out" theme. I've got a billet fuel door and grill just to break up all that black

I understand, but when you can improve the looks of your Jeep, I say go for it. I personally can't stand the stock look of a Jeep from the factory and would never leave one that way. My wife looks good in a t shirt and nothin done with her hair, but there's nothing wrong with fixing herself up to go out.....

I also just put nerf bars on mine yesterday. My wife and daughter have a hard time getting in and out of my Jeep when we go offroading so I had em put on. Looks good to me, I think that's all that really matters anyway.

Do whatever, whenever you want, but chrome on a jeep makes it look like you love the bling. If you love the bling, and all that materialistic stuff that goes with bling, then go for it. Me? I just won't give you the jeep wave ... . I came to a fork in the road, and took it .. ( Yogi Berra ) oops wrong quote..

Do whatever you want. To each his own. End of discussion.

I'm not a fan of anything ODing on chrome. At the same time, I have some chrome/bright metal left on my Jeep. I have a dark green Jeep with a bunch of bigger black pieces, such as the bumpers, tire carrier, rocker guards, and flat fenders. I have very small pieces of chrome/lighter metal left on my Jeep that I like the contrast of.

Chrome bezels (on dark green grill).
Chrome wheel caps (on black wheels).
Light metal lugs (on black wheels).
Light metal bolts for the black rocker guards.
Light metal D-Rings on both black bumpers.
Light metal roller fair lead (on the black winch mount).

I don't care for the shiney-ness of chrome. What I like is the contrast. The wheel caps are already rusting, and I don't really care. When they get reall bad, then they'll probably go black.

Yeah well I personally think that light bars on top of your Jeep makes you look like you love the bling. Put em on your windshield pillars or front bumpers, on top is just a look at me thing......

And see that's your opinion. Everyone has one, do what ever the heck you want to to your own vehicle, end of story.

No light bar on my jeep, I don't like em either,, just a well used safari rack,, bummer though, my wife refuses to ride with me if I paint the stock rims flat black,,

Dude !! Lighten up. My quoting of Yogi Berra, and the winking smiley face clues most people into the fact that I was speaking tongue in cheek,,,, Have you no sense of humour ???? ;(

My jeep has lots of flat black on it, and gloss only where I HAD to have it.

Nothing at all wrong with chrome. Your Jeep, do what you want with it.

Personally, I find this whole blacking or "murdering" out trend to be overdone...and will bet that eventually, people will look upon that as a tacky 2000/2010's thing, just like they look at chrome as a tacky 70's/80's thing.

Make your rig the way you want it...you're the one who has to drive it everyday.

Well the reason I posted to begin with was the poster that said "chrome is for mall crawlers". I wanted him to know I highly disagree as my trail ride has chrome and it looks good.

I still have chrome headlight bezels on my jeep, and I like them. The entire blacked out thing is getting old.

I have no problem with Chrome as an accent but some folks just get carried away in my opinion. Kind of like the black out thing now, just people going overboard in my opinion but to each there own. I am not just talking on Jeeps either. Like they say, different strokes for different folks.
