Wheel Spacers or New Wheels

I was wondering if I should invest in new wheels when I lift and put 33x12.5x15 on my 05 TJ Sport or use spidertrax 1.5in wheel spacers. I currently have the ravine wheels whch have 5.5in backspacing.

Most will say get new wheels.

Spacers Pro:
- cheaper than 5 new wheels (unless you want black steel wheels).
- SpiderTrax are very well made.
- Will give you 4" of BS if you get the 1.5" version.

Cons:
- Double the number of lugs to tighten/check when working on wheels or brakes.

People will argue that the spacers will screw up the joints, but I contend that wheel spacers will give you the same effective backspacing (and any additional forces) as a wheel with the same backspacing.

I like my Canyon wheels, so I went with wheel spacers. My wheels have not fallen off, I have noticed no additional steering or joint issues from this. I've had them since 2006.

If I could do it again, I'd consider new wheels, but I'd get alloy wheels, not steel. So the price consideration comes into play.

if you don't care about the Ravines, jsut get steel wheels with 4" of BS and send the Ravines to me. lol

The BDS website says the best tires/wheel combo for the 3" lift that I have is 33x12.5/15x8 and 3 1/2" of backspacing. my tires rub on my control arms if i turn sharp and i have no spacers. how much spacing do i need to get to 3.5 inches and do you think it will solve the rubbing? i know nothing about backspacing if you cant tell
