Wheel width question.

I'm looking to pick up some 15x8 replacement rims off CL but my tires are size 32x11.5R15. I called discount tire and they said they don't recommend mounting that tire on a smaller rim size like that mainly because the tread would wear down faster in the center of the tire. If I'm looking to get new tires this summer and I put less than 1000 miles in the tires a month I should be alright for a few months right?

they don't know what they are talking about...only way to wear down the center tread is to overinflate the tire...
I'd guess that 80% of the jeeps I ride with in NH are running 8" rims like me-and 11.5 to 12.5 tire width. I'm running Cepek crushers, 33x12.5x15 on 15x8 rims-have not seen any uneven wear yet. On the road I run 28#, offroad down to 12# or so. Tires have been on the rubi for 2+ years now...

I have been looking for new tires for my new wheels. I heard the same thing from DT
they said the wider tire will wear faster and act like a (balloon) when driving with too much tire roll.
i was comparing 285/70/17 vs. 33/12.5/17 for a 17x9 wheel.. I really want a 12.5 - I like that look, but i havent seen a 285/70/17 on a 9" wheel for reference.

local jeep dealer has 2 lifted wranglers, 17x8.5 AEV wheels with 35's 35x12.5x17 and i would guess 33's in the same width would still be ok..

I am confused too
