Wheels on a TJ

I'm looking at new wheels for my 2001 (yellow). What are your favourites on a TJ? Post some pics please! I'm considering 15", not too expensive, relatively lightweight.

If there's already a thread like this that you know of, please direct me there. I didn't see any with a quick search.

15x8 is most common size. I have steel cragar soft 8s love them for cheap. In the future when I go to 35s I'll go lighter like aluminum or alloy.

I like Black Rock vipers for about $150 each

MB makes some nice wheels for about $110, like theses Razor wheels. They come in black too

DoubleOught I never even thought of going with yellow. Those look really good. Are they just painted with standard paint?

I'm looking at the Mamba MR1X (Moab knockoffs). I really like the 5 spoke design & they come in 15x8 with 4.5" of backspacing.

I've been reading a lot of threads to figure this out. I'm not sure yet, from the notes I've scribbled down it looks like I should go with around 4.5. I plan on going with 31s as I'm stock and can't get into any more mods yet.

I couldn't find any solar yellow in a spray bomb so I ended up buying some high solids single stage urethane from an auto paint supply store. The clear was peeling off of my grille and I had some trail rash on the right rear corner to repair so I just did it all at one time. Used a cheap HVLP touch up gun from Harbor Freight but it laid down slick as glass. I have since seen that Quadratec has Mopar laquer in Solar Yellow in spray cans, kind of expensive but I ended up spending about $80 on materials for what I did. Been very please so far. There are so many yellow jeeps around here with black wheels that I wanted to do something different. Saw one on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago with some Moabs off of a Rubi painted solar yellow and it looked really nice too!

15x8 wheel with about 3.75 back spacing is ideal for a tj. It'll work for most every tire size and there are about a gazillion tire options for that wheel.

I like the classic look of AR Outlaw I or II.
I run the Outlaw II.

If you are going to run a 10.50 wide tire (31" or 33" tall), you can get these in a 7" width wheel with 3.75 backspacing. Makes an ideal, lightweight combination.

If you intend to run a 12.50 wide tire, than 8" width wheel is a better choice.

I put on s set of 15x8 MB Wheels TKO. Achieved the look that I was wanting, with the BFG AT 32x11.5x15s.

I plan on getting the Quadratec version of the Moab wheels when I inevitably go to 33's at some point.

I went with a 15x8 steel smoothie wheel on my 97 just to look a little old school.

I like black steelies, if you bend a wheel on the trail a good hammer can fix it. In the future diy bead locks or rim protectors can be added. A spray of black paint can fix rock rash.
