Where do most of you buy your aftermarket stuff?

Just curious of where most of you guys and gals purchase your aftermarket products? I keep hearing horror stories about quadratec so now I am curious of where to shop. Any info would be appreciated.

Here's a good thread that should help you out.

http://www.wranglerforum.com/general...rts-10686.html

Remember that service is just as important as price. Also be sure to check the total price with shipping as that's where a lot of vendors will get you.

And check out our Vendor Section too:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/vendor-showcase/

Here you have the advantage of speaking with them in an open forum. The "big box" retailers can't and won't do that.

I have bought things from 4wd hardware and quadratec online and had them shipped. Other than waiting for my back ordered seat covers I have had no problems with either company.

I bought my aux lights at a 4 wheel parts store. They wanted $25-$30 more than their catalog but they price matched for me

That's just my experience.

the cheapes site with good feedback gets my money. when businesses compete the price goes down, more consumer buys for a better economy.

JC Witney has been a reliable source for after-market "stuff" for me..
Although, I can't say I've bought anything through them yet, for my new 08 Jeep.

I've dealt with:

www.dpgoffroad.com (JKS and OME suspension and IPF lighting)
www.4x4groupbuy.com (Toys by Troy and Jeeperman stuff)
www.redrock4x4.com (Kilby stuff)
www.4x4rockshop.com (CO2 compressor stuff)
JCWhitney (Some tools, Bestop stuff - look for it on sale)

I prefer giving the small shops the business. They seem to know their stock better and provided EXCELLENT customer service. My advice is to search around. If you can't find what you want on those sites (or Quadratec), you can likely find it used on eBay.

JC Whitney because they have many of the same products as Quadratec and 4WD Hardware and FREE Shipping if you spend over $75. I also watch Ebay for good deals.

I assume that is where you bought your tires. Did you buy the insurance with those?

I have a 4WheelParts right down the street from me. Never had a problem. Their prices on aftermarket are usually about the same as most catalogs, and I save shipping by buying direct from them. They have real people to talk to that build their own rigs and really wheel. They are the sister company to 4Wheel Hardware.

I'm sure that there are horror stories to be told about any shop/catalog/company. I like to help keep local businesses in bussiness.

I agree, I've been buying parts from them for about 25 years. Never had a problem. But, I do not buy solely from them. They have price matching and I've found their prices to be equivalent to anywhere else.

If you ever do have any work done there,
#1 check under the hood for tools left behind form the Installer
#2 make sure every nut and bolt is tight
#3 If they do a lift be sure to see if they have added longer brake lines

These are just a few story's I have heard about, and whats up with the catalogue, it shows one price, but the store has it for much more ????

i'm hearing +++s about northridge all the time ^.

On a side note.. Do NOT buy anything Rough Country makes. I'm now calling JC Whitney trying to see if i can get rid of this piece of trash, reason why i'm talking to them is because of false advertizements on their websites and also they only add the good reviews to their page meaning you will find no bad reviews of the kit.

I've dealt with Quadratec on a few occations, and it was always just fine. eBay is usually pretty good and you can save a few bucks but since the sellers vary you might end up waiting around a while for your order.

I may buy the occasional very small insignificant item from Quadratec or 4WD Hardware if I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere but above that, their pricing and shipping charges are just outrageous.

A little search on the Internet or calling vendors that sponsor the various Jeep forums will generally always pay off handsomely in big savings. And asking Quadratec to "price match" REALLY gripes me. QT overcharges 99% of its customers... small vendor takes the risk of advertising a lower price... then someone will just take that price to QT and QT matches it... benefitting from the smaller dealer's willingness to take risk while they take no risk at all which eventually drives the smaller dealers out of business. QT likes that since with fewer competitors, they can continue charging their outrageous prices.

For example... Quadratec charges $78.99 for a Uniden Pro510XL CB radio at http://www.quadratec.com/products/pr...php?kw=Uniden+

Yet you can buy that same exact radio all over the Internet for under $40. Click on this link to see what a 2 second www.froogle.com/ search turned up... http://www.google.com/products?q=Uni...ce2=40&btnP=Go Even on a CB Quadratec is charing DOUBLE the typical cost for that exact CB radio.

Sorry if it seems I've got a real hard-on for Quadratec but their pricing and predatory "price match" policy which allows them to overcharge the majority of their customers really gets to me. Support the smaller Jeep parts dealers, they are what keep large organizations like Quadratec from charging even more than they do.

x2... Quadratec is da devil.

I like Northridge because Dave personally answers the phone and uses a lot of what he sells. He won't BS you or sell you junk you don't need. He has (on more than one occasion) talked folks in my Jeep club out of buying crap they don't need and saving them money. He may not be the cheapest on some stuff but he is a straight shooter.

Lately I have been talking the guys at Rokmen, Dave explains things in a way even I can understand. Their products are the best quality I've seen and reasonably priced. They field test the products they sell and have their systems and products dialed in.

Personally I get all my parts at www.absoluteoffroadphx.com. Yes I'm a little biased, but enough so that I brought him in as a vendor and numberous others on this board have used him as well.

I get all my stuff from only 3 vendors. in no particular order they are.

Dave @ Northridge4x4.com
Dave and Jeff @ Rokmen
Mike @ 4x4rockshop
I have found that I am much better off dealing with vendor with great customer service before and AFTER the sale and good prices. Then I am fair customer service and Great prices.

Dave @ Northridge has given me warranty parts for things I have bought from him. Even though the warranty was up, plus he shipped them to me free of charge.

Mike @ Rockshop was nice enough to have Jeeperman Pre-Build rear swing away bumpers with his money on the line and being held by Jeeperman for 8-10 weeks. That way he sold only units he had in stock. Was nice to not have to wait for the long build time.

The Rokmen guys emailed me several times on a weekend to discuss winches, even though the shop was closed. Glad I got rid of that troublesome Warn and went with the Superwinch EPi from Rokmen. I have also talked to them on the phone after the shop should have been closed on a weeknight babbling about armor.

You can go for the extra couple percent savings from some eBay vendor. Me, I will pay the extra couple bucks to support the vendors who help support your favorite Jeep related forums and more importantly support the customer long after after the sale.

Quadratec act like you are bothering them whenever you call. Poor customer services. I would stay away.
4 wheel parts is nice b/c they have stores all over the country. I have found their cust. service to be slightly better.
I would agree with others above. Try to stick with a local 4x4 shop. If / when you have problems with things its much easier to go to your local 4x4 shop and talk to someone directly that actually cares about your business rather some "sales man" at quadratec.
