Look to be red? If so under the body right next to rear body mount.

Send a message via Yahoo to ChaddG
you can't use them as turn signals, not for street use anyways, you need amber I believe.
You can only use red for stopping

This is correct. You need to have amber bulbs in the front of your vehicle and red in the back.

Balls. Saw another jeep with them as turn signals. Is it illegal to have any other color but amber?

I personally wouldn't mount those anywhere on my jeep. To each their own though.

I'm pretty sure. Check with your local DMV.

Ok I'll check with the DMV. What options do I have for mounting a side marker since I cut my flares?

It is DOT rules. You can have those as brake lights/ rear turn signals so you could put them on the rear or backside somewhere stupid like by the fuel fill. If you replace taillights with them you will have to come up with reverse lights from another source. A license plate light and a reflective material. The reflective stuff can be tape on the bumper etc. Front turn signals need to illuminate amber. No reflective properties needed I know of. That keeps you legal. Or you can roll with a box of doughnuts.

Some yellow trailer lights. As long as it lights amber it can be anything. You could even find small cool lights and mount them on the sides of the bumper. Like the flush signals on my R1 would look sick on the side of a bumper. ( Not my src but a square one) It don't have to be on the flare just visible from the side.

The TJ tails are single color RED (and they are the turn signals) There is now amber so how can you say the turns must be amber?

Note all DMV illumination laws are different state to state

He is saying the front can't be red in his own way I believe. You will not find a state that allows flashing red lights on the front of anything other than emergency vehicles. Dmv's do have different laws regarding many things but I do not believe this is one of them.

I learned something too. I didn't know you needed reflective stuff up front.

Amber for the front, and those are too big for side markers, IMO.

You could get some 3/4" amber led's. A lot smaller, plenty bright, and you can mount them just about anywhere you can drill a 3/4" hole. Side of tub behind wheel opening, inner fender, side of hood. I have seen them in all those places. I have mine on my MCE fender's on lip that hangs down. You could even make a small bracket to attach to your tube fenders. They were about $11 each IIRC.

I found those on amazon last night. I can't mount them on the edge of the flare though. I might have to put them in the wheel well/firewall
