Where to mount my new 48" Hi-Lift?

Hello,

today UPS brought my new 48" Hi-Lift.
Now i don´t know where i could mount it.
Perhaps somwhere on the bestop tire carrier? Or in the inside?

Please tell me - and show some pics - where you mount your Hi-Lift.

Thanks in advance.

A guy in my Jeep club fabs up these... they are pretty cool and a few folks run them. If interested I'll shoot you his contact info.

well i looked into it and the hood mounts appear to be expensive online but you can easily fabricate one you're own with a few bolts and washers if you want to mount it there....there a page on high lift mounts on jeep forum here http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=472587

the hi-lift looks very good on the hood. but i don´t know how to protect it there against thiefs.

that look also very good:

but there could be a problem with opened softtop. perhaps it can be installed between the rear rollbar a bit higher than on the pic...?

Or you could just mount the lift a little closer to the seat which will give the opened soft top room...

i have mine using u bolts to the roll bar about even with the height of the seat on the back side of the roll bar. also makes it impossible to get anything out from inside so if you lock your trunk they wont be able to get to anyhting in your trunk that is bigger then 6 inches without like being in a completey awkward position to unbolt the u bolts

btw thi doesnt work for 60" ers, well i mena wihtou mod ification
mine is a 60"er but i ahd to cut it down about 3 inches so it didnt rub the soft top

I have mine mounted to the rollbar witha couple of straps made from 2' x 1/8 aluminium bent in a "U" shape with a 4" bolt with a nut to clamp it to the roll bar and a wing nut & washers to hold the high lift on.

i'll share mine from the same setup...

take the conduit clamp, put a washer over the bolt, then put the bolt through the clamp, then put a lock washer, then a nut. from there, you have the mount system that stays in place. slide a larger outer diameter washer over the bolt, then the jack, then another big washer (same size as the other side), then a wing nut. that's it. all in all, i think it costs $6-$8.

are the clamps strong enough? does the hi-lift make noises when you drive over bumps?

This is a quality piece here:

Also, I like it with the light kit on it:

That just cries out "STEAL ME NOW"

I like that setup right there though. Safer and harder to see for thiefs, out of elements way, safer than on the bumper or anything so just in case some one hits you, it will remain untouched....

i'm not sure what kinda of hardware stores you have over there so it won't be a matter of telling you which isle to look on....they are pretty much all the same here in the states. it is a conduit clamp found with the electrical and sometimes plumbing. its original design is to attach to a "unistrut" type of metal channel where a piece of pipe goes through the clamp.
