I missed out on an LJ for $12000 the day I bought my TJ. As much as I love my Jeep I wish I would have held out for an LJ like the one you are looking at. I think there resale value will hold up well in the long run when they are embraced as the Scrambler of this generation. Is it an automatic?

Well, somebody has to play devil's advocate. Let me put my hockey mask on for the onslaught to follow.
Being a fan of the Scrambler, years ago I traded my '04 TJ in for an LJ and had regrets ever since. It wasn't as "nimble" and I kept looking at other TJs and thinking what the hell. Oh, and the 180 miles on a tank of gas was a kick in the groin as well (not that I expect any Jeep to be good on gas, but damn).
Lets say the Tj and Lj are the same year and mileage... what make the Lj that much better of a buy? I have never looked at or considered one so I am curious for future purchases.
Longer wheelbase and more interior space.. Whether that is better for you or not is merely preference as to A) whether or not you need the extra cargo space. AND B) Whether or not the longer wheelbase will be of help to you on the trail or hurt you. The longer wheel base is also said to create a slightly better on road ride
All LJ's come with a D44 rear. With the TJ you have to look for it

LJ thanks to the d44. otherwise I don't like the color, the chrome inlay grill, or the hard top. but you can sell both of those, as for the color I hope you like white. Either way I don't think you can go wrong, so have fun

Anybody got another mask???? While the LJ seems to be more desired....the point that would push me is the model year. The mileage is nothing to worry about IMO and the LJ is newer......but if they were same year same mileage same options both "stock"...I would prefer the TJ....I don't like the look or handling of the LJ...but it is just MY opinion...do what you want.
I by something to keep it not because I MIGHT make money if I decide to sell it.
Yeah I love my TJ - but a longer wheelbase would be nice. The wheelbase on the TJ is so short the front and back wheels hit the same bump at the same time. I miss my lil truck - I used to have an '88 longbed ranger that drove on the road better than the new ones due to the longer wheelbase. I spent more getting the engine rebuilt than I did on the truck just to keep it a while longer. LJ, for sure. It's newer and gives you a little more resale value if you need it.
