Ok so which one do y'all think will look better, I'm really undecided on which to get. I have westin side steps and I really don't like the looks of those. Be honest guys. Thanks.

I prefer the second based on looks alone. But in fairness I don't normally like anything tubular.

I'm looking for looks and protection. My jeep only has a 2.5 inch lift with 33's so the "step" is pointless. Well for me anyway.

#2, I don't care for tubes either way, but #2 is a much cleaner look..
04' Rubi, with all the gizmos we need for long range excursions, / home modified excursion trailer;

96' Lexus 450, locked, loaded and ready to roll..

Well depends on your Jeep use/abuse.
If you are going to go off-road including rock crawling then #1 all the way. Every inch of clearance matters, and since this will be in line with the tires you would be surprised what one inch more clearance will do for you. Also don't think of it as a step but more as side bumper for rocks (hence they are called rock rails ) As you will use them to slide over or around rocks.
If you don't plan on going near rocks then...... do you really need either? But #2 are more steps then protection.

But I still vote #1 as #2 sort of looks like what you have just smaller tube and since you are looking to change, why get something similar to what you have? Don't want to seem like I am talking down to you, just breaking it down as I am unsure of your experience.
Just my 2 cents

Don't believe in anything you can't break
