Which Soft top

I have a '98 TJ that currently has a two-piece BT hardtop. The previous owner also gave me the remnants of a soft top. The bow system seems to be in good order, but the canvas and windows need to be replaced. As well, it will need all new hardware. Can anyone make any suggestions?

I have the door surrounds. But, I need to purchase the knobs x4.
I need to purchase the bow brackets for both sides.
I don't know what to purchase for the connectors (bow-to-bracket)

Finally and most importantly, I would appreciate some guidance on which soft top to buy. I want something affordable, but also of decent quality. Options as I see them are a brand name from a retailer such as quadratec (Quadra Top, Best Top, SmittyBilt, Rampage, etc.). Or, I can get some other aftermarket brand that I've never heard of from eBay (for much cheaper). Or...I can wait for the chance that craigslist will pop something.

Thanks

I would suggest getting something like the Bestop Trektop NX. Bestop is the best brand for replacement tops and honestly I wish I didn't skimp on mine when I got it. While the Rampage top that I have is decent, I wish I spent the money on a Bestop.

The cool thing about the Trektop is it comes with everything you need and you don't need the bow system because it straps right to your roll bars! Pretty neat if you ask me.

I agree with the trektop NX. I had one on my JK and it was an amazing top. It was tight, quiet, and unique in the way you get the sunrider and a safari top. The fast back looked awesome too.

I looked at the NX and rampahe when I bought my TJ as the top was loose and floppy. The trektop was too rich for my pocket at the time and I didnt like the way the rampage attached and the lack of the sunrider- after already owning a trektop it felt too cheap. so I got the quadratop replacement fabric. I like it a lot, It fits well. I do have craigslist alerts sent to my phone if anyone posts a trektop, I'll buy it! Best top hands down

I have the Bestop Trektop NX, and loved it. It is really great to use for just flipping the front portion back and having a good day in the sun, and if rain comes easy flip back closed.

I am about to order a roof rack though and will be hard top or no top year round so I listed it for sale on here and my local craigslist. If you were closer I'd let you run it for a week or so and see if you liked it.

I personally am a fan of the OEM soft top. It's easy to take down/off, it can be converted to a sunrider, most hardware/accessories are available on Quadratec and as you mentioned, you can easily replace just the cloth & windows...which is much less expensive than a complete top package.

I just recently purchased the premium sailcloth QuadraTop.....I'm waiting for the weather to warm up so I can take off the hard top and put this on. For $399 the price was right for me, and it really does look like very good quality.

Good luck!!!
