which top to get. i have it down to two.

broke my upper window today and decided my top is about junk too. I had a outland top and dont like it. All my zippers were crap. It was old though.

should i get the pavement ends top with tinted windows and upper door skins or go ahead and get the bestop replace a top with tinted windows and uppers.

i can afford either. Would love to save that extra $150 with the pavement ends but i want to be happy with my purchase too.

I have a pavement ends and it works fine for me. no complaints except for uits a little thin. but it keeps the rain, snow, and sun out. good luck

x2. I got a Bestop 2 months ago. Had 2 small puncture holes. They shipped a new top that day! Customer service was great and the product more than satisfies my expectations.

I just ordered the sail cloth from JC Whitney. They threw in a window duffle and free shipping. My old one was the stock 98 that came with it. I can't wait for the new to get here..should be this week.

Just to let those who don't know now. Pavement ends is Bestops lower end market.
Personally I'd go Bestop.

Both will work fine initially. As years pass obviously you get what you pay for with Bestop and you'll probably get a couple more years out of the Bestop vs the Pavement ends top. I just bought a replace a top with tinted windows and upper door skins about a year ago to replace my stock 99 top and i i have no complaints at all, its a great top! Also there's no need to shell out the extra couple hundred for the sailcloth unless you really have a problem with the noise of a soft top.

i dont mind the noise but my outland right now flaps like crazy on the back windows. That gets really annoying. Would the best top replace a top do that or should i go for sail cloth?

My replace a top windows dont really flap...the majority of the noise comes from the roof of the top, not the windows. That being said the windows on the replace a top and the sailcloth are the same i believe so you will be getting the same windows with either one, its just the canvas thats different, the sailcloth having more plys and insulation than the older style replace a top which makes it a bit quieter.

Yea, ive had the stock 97 top and the sailcloth bestop (bestop are factory tops on TJs, and pavement ends are factory on the old YJs)

There was deffinatly a big difference in the noise level, but most important for me, was the difference in heat in the winter. The sailcloth is much more liveable if you have people that you want to talk to, answer a cell phone etc., but there is much less bitching from passenger in the winter (in the back seat i mean), and much more comfortable for the driver, with the sailcloth.

The sailcloth is close to a hard top in quietness and heat, where as the standard tops are.. well.. a single sheet of canvas

But just wondering since i think they look kinda neat. What have you guys heard about the pavement ends flip top?

Well i ended up getting a black best top replace a top with tinted windows off amazon for $450 shipped new! Comes with my upper windows too. The deal is good on jc whitney but i think id rather keep my $90 for now. I never thought id be excited about spending 450 on a top lol.

I've noticed that if I run the vent open even with blower off the the pressure inside is changed and the windows are quiet (as well as much less top noise).

did you go with sailcloth or regular? Either way, you made a good choice with bestop, and killer deal.

I got the replace a top from Best Top last year and no complaints at all.
Its a heavy duty stuff.
also last year when i was looking to get a jeep,I found the difference in tops quality and nothing really compares to the OEM or Best top.
I saw many that look like a piece of paper with very light weight windows.
