White logos on tires

Hi,

I just replaced by old Bridgestone Desert Dueler's for some Dueler A/T's that are better for the highway but don't have any white highlight on the logos (grr).

I want them to look like this:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....nSpeedRating=R

so anyone know of any paint rub or the type of paint to use with a roller to get this Nascar effect! as aftermarket?

There are those that think whitewall or white lettered tires look kinda lame and would plead for you not to do it

Those are generally the ones that would think a cheesy black steel wheel looks good, so their opinion really doesn't count for much on this subject

As distorted said, go to VatoZone or any other chain auto store and get some tire markers if thats what you like.

You seem to love to knock everyone and their personal preferences with their own Jeep. I have yet to see a pic of yours so I can tell you whats wrong with it.

*I never took the time to look at 'My Heep' in your sig. Its a real nice Jeep but that doesn't mean you can trash on the guys with less money.

And let me guess the other guys knocking the OP with "Not to color" his white letter tires was ok? Because in your opinion they are right?
I was simply defending his position to do what he likes, "his personal preference" on his Jeep.

My jeep is in my sig feel free to list everything you think is wrong with it. I don't mind a bit and the last thing I will do is whine and cry about it. Because its simply an opinion and it means no more or less then mine. If you can base your opinions on fact there is no need to get your feelings hurt, after all its just an opinion.

No I don't like the way white letter out looks, either. I've just seen you in more than one threads talking shit when it was just unnecessary.
Like I said before, I looked at your Jeep and I wish it was mine. I never got my little feelings hurt by anything you said. Just thought it was unnecessary. Not trying to start any shit.

I think a lot of tires have lettering on both sides of the tire, and one side is white. So if you want white letters out, you just ask them to mount them like that. But in this case I'm with everyone else, go get somethin from AutoZone or whatever.

Funny how people look at the same things so differently.

I looked at this thread and saw the same exact thing you did, except I saw it as the other two talking down to the OP because he wanted to color his tires. Which you saw nothing wrong with. So you completely look over that part and only see something wrong with what I said for taking the OP side on what he wants to do with his Jeep.

2 other people said there are people who would tell him not to. This will just keep going as an argument so I'll just leave this thread alone.

Being an ex-employee of Firestone/Bridgestone I know that those tires are available both ways. When you look at your paperwork showing the tires there will be a little code on it like BW, OWL, or WS. BW= Black Wall (no color on either side). OWL = Outline White Letter (White letters on one side, black on the other). WS= White Stripe one side black on the other.
I have a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 31's waiting for my Jeep with the White letters, I'm just waiting for my old stocks to wear out.

I'm pretty sure Advanced Auto has what your looking for. I had white letters before and ended up getting the black paint pen for them. One thing I can tell you from experience is that the paint on the letters cracks and chips, ends up looking bad. After I got aggravated with the chipping, took lots of gasoline and a pressure washer to get them white again. For a few bucks, it doesn't hurt to do it.

oh and those 'markers' aka grease pens, don't work all that well, its only temporary, if you want white letters, only way you can get them is by getting new tires.

Why is everybody so stuck on Advanced Auto? No knocks on them but the prices are a little whacked out.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info, I'll check now for the markers - Alot of debate on white markers I see! I'm a little mad at the tire place for not fitting the same again, but hey I need to get a few miles on these now before I swap back to some meatier tires (with factory white marking) for the real look I want.

IMO, with tiny 15" MT wheels, you end up with alot of boring looking black without the white lettering on the tire for a lifted car (esp on a road SUV tire). The original manufacturers also reckon it looks okay re actually doing it as per poster comment above / I've seen on alot of Nissan Patrols (and Land Cruiser with Dunlop GrandTrek).

Now, doing this on your Jap import low profile tires with 19" wheels is ricer in my opinion. I'll stay away from my tires on my other cars with the pen!

Uh-oh! He called the Jeep a car! Look out! I think Smeg got flamed for that a few times!

Yeah, as far as the markers go, I used one once to repair a scuff on the white letters on my truck tires, it didn't last very long, and it always seemed to me that it didn't quite match, so the repair stood out more than the original. I can't imagine they would hold up well by doing all the letters on the tires! It's not like it'll hurt anything though, so if the marker is cheap, and you have the time, give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen? You get flamed by a bunch of strangers? Pshaw!! Be sure to post pics if you do it!

I tried the marker on my bfg's with white letters out, to make them white again, and it didn't work to well, plus it sounds like your application would be very time consuming.

But if you've got the time, go for it.

I can see I'm hitting all the right spots! I'm not in the US but I've ordered it so it will take a week or so to get here. I'll be sure to post before an after for subjective review!

Btw - great colour orange. Your's look good because the tires are chunky. The crappy road looking tires I've got now need something more, however they are good on road and especially good in sand which as actually what I need

Thanks bro. I'm just running on BFG Mall Terrains. Hopefully I get some miles on them. Can't be replacing Mud Terrains every 6 months with the driving I do.

It'll take a while to paint the letters, but I think you'll be happy with the end results. Make sure to post up them pics when your done.

Are you one who would prefer a 20" chrome one then? Look at my sig, it would look like a mall crawler on chrome. I love the way soft 8's look, and most others do too.

No need for 20s.. i just think chromes or shinnys enhance the look of the tire and the rim together as you can see where one ends and where one starts..

I'm not trying to hurt feelings here, every one with their own style.. every one likes different things. I'm not going to start saying oh ur jeep suks with them black rims on black tires.. lol Thats what you like, run it. Now i can tell you if you're running 25" rims that they might not last long offroad but thats about it

Hey! I resemble that remark about chrome wheels!

I like the black steelies on some colors, but I've got way to many Nascar waan-bes around here w/ black steelies on everything, plus, w/ the red, I figured why try to be subtle, the same wheels in black were $5 cheaper per wheel, I figured I'd splurge!
