whooo hooo!!!!!

after several months i finally found a body shop the insurance likes but will let me do what i want!!!!!

insurance cut me a check, im buying and installing the sheet metal, they are painting all new metal, and fixing the rockerpanel and door, which means now more annoying ass wind noise...

anyways, a couple months ago i hit a deer, took out the drivers fender, flare, turn signal, dented the rocker panel above the jeep emblem, bent the door, and a couple hoof dents, one below the door, and the other right infront of the rear flare.

hopefully i will not owe the body shop when it is all said and done.

so whats the big plans?

time for the AEV highline body kit...

as you can tell, im really excited about this kit, i already placed the order this morning, it will be here hopefully monday... so monday i get to sit around all day and wait on ups...

American Expedition Vehicles - Highline Body Kit - 97-06 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Conversion Kit

What is really different other then the hood? From the site it doesn't look very different to me?

EDIT: The fenders do look higher

I hope you're planning on getting the kit before you take it to the body shop or get to paint it all again.

according to what ive read about the body kit, you can run 34's stock or 37's with a 3in lift etc. you will still have the normal flex of your suspension but higher ground clearance cuz u can clear larger rubber.

with those stock flares on there, there will def. be some tire to flare contact. Im not attracted to the fender well ratio.(too small) the angle from edge of tire to tip of flare is small.

the flares are all different and so is the fenders, all four flares are replaced with larger wheel openings, wider flares. there is no contact with the flares at full stuff and wheel turned.

aev takes pride in this work and there is no telling how much money went into designing this kit, im guessing at least 500K if not a little more. I have never heard anything bad about any of their kits, what so ever.

as for the brute kit, if i had the money i would have dropped the another 9K for it too.

yes, the kit is going to a business that i am a really good friend with, when it arrives he will unload it, i will pick up the kit from him then i am going to install all of the sheet metal, then take it to the shop so they can fix the rocker panel and door. then they will paint everything at once.

So, Redneck... it's been a month. Maybe I missed a different post, but how did the AEV kit turn out?

If you guys like the white jeep, check out the "Lower 40" jeep. It rocks 40's and the high line fenders/hood. The Jeep is bad *ss.

i have the kit hung and it looks great. it said it should take 8 hours to install. we finished it in 4.5 hours. all the panels lined up straight except the drivers fender is a little to low for my likings but that is because of the rocker panel being bent.

im now getting better gas mileage, not sure if if was the kit or not but it is the only thing that i modified.

why is there a deer farm? they are so overpopulated up here that in a lot of the area i live in they out number us, or close to it.

These deer never make it into the wild, in fact we can get in deep sh*t if we allow any of them to escape into the wild...they are sold to private hunting clubs and such. Do I agree with hunting deer that are used to people? Nope...but we don't hunt them on our land. We breed them and give them a good life and then people pay a premium for em once they're about 3 years old with a nice rack. A good buck can easily bring in $5-10k.

Are the new components considerably lighter than the old ones? Gotta remember to...even the weather, wind, your driving style, etc can play with gas mileage. I wouldn't get too happy with your new mpg until it's consistently better. lol

the fenders are a lot heavier because they are 14 guage sheet metal. im assuming that the hood is still the stock thickness, but i couldn't tell the difference in weight, they are about the same.
