Why parking brakes are good.

Went wheelin today with a couple of full size rock buggies and while we were parked on a *steep* hill the buggy in front of me came out of gear, rolled 10 or so feet and slammed his enormous tube frame into my grill and hood. Turns out he does not have a parking brake....Ouch.

Nobody was hurt and the Jeep is still drivable. Lesson here is have a parking brake, please.

They don't just JUMP out of gear. Probably left in neutral. The steeper incline you are on the more gear locked it would be and less chance of coming out of gear.

My guess is he knocked it out of gear because he was getting in. Good news is the club also runs a 4x4 shop so it'll get fixed. I know the guy and he's cool.

The whole grill and hood are trashed, the underhood support rods are bowed up 2 inches, looks to be all body work, as the radiator is still intact.

if you had to buy the hood and two front fenders, and wanted NEW parts it would be very comparable to new stock replacement parts.
