Will re-gearing from 4.10 to 4.88 be harder on my engine?

So I have Rubicon 44's being freighted to me. I currently have d30/d35 4.10's. I have 35" tires and am staying with them. 6cyl with ax15 manual.

I want to regear to 4.88. It's my DD. I realize this will make freeway speeds easier to attain. I also realize the given rpm at any speed will b higher. Does this mean more wear and tear on the engine? Will my water pump be spinning more and thus keep cooking where it should be?

Any advice is appreciated. Preferably analogous experience...

I really geared from 4.10 to 4.88 late last year and could not be happier! It is a Sport and same tranny as yours. My Jeep is my daily driver and it has shown no negative issues and has no issues cruising along at Interstate speeds for hours on end. I ran an overnight trip to the Mountains this past weekend and maintained 3k RPM's for the non stop 230 miles each way.

(I have made this trip several times since regearing with and without a pop up camper, with no issues)

Don't fret, re gear to 4.88...

I don't have personal experience, but I have already spent the $$$ based on my research on this topic. I have a pair of brand new G2 D44's (front and rear) with 30 spline chromoly axles, 4.88's and Truetracs waiting to be installed. I bought them because I went to 35" tires. The 4.88's will put me right in the middle of my powerband and allow my engine to work a little easier, rather than harder.

I have an NV3550 (2003 model) 5MT in mine and regeared this month from 4.10 to 4.88.

4.10: 70 mph would be right around 2450 rpms
4.88: 65/66 mph is 2500 rpms and 70 mph is around 2650-2700 rpms. 73 mph is right at 2750 rpms.

Doesn't correlate exactly to yours, but gives you a good idea on the increases.

And yeah, torque is back. :)

Edit: all the above is on 35s (I had 35s/4:10 for about 3 weeks waiting on shop time).
