I figured I was. I have looked a lot at 5.3 swaps for the reasons you stated. The reason for looking into it is because one of friends is getting into the car re-sale business. Not sure exactly but he goes to auctions with damaged cars. He can get me in and from what little I have found, the 5.7 is a 380hp with 401 ftlb. The rear axles are beefier than most others. If I could get one for $3-4k I think it would be cheaper in the long run. Maybe no so much if I have to do a lot of custom work. I thought the Toyota and Hemi were about the same size.
I started looking mainly because if the transmission. I like the gear ratios in the tranny. I was set on the 6L80E but was told it won't fit with out a stretch. I don't mind a stretch but it can't be more than 5in.
