The first time I used mine I abused it. Almost an hour of winching me and my son. Never had an issue. So far so good.

I bought one.

It worked.

For almost 2 whole years!

Then, it died.

Well then, you got your 300 bucks out of it.. I picked mine up on CL for $100 3 years ago, I've since added synthetic line, Amsteel Blue, tore it down once to have a look, cleaned it up, re-greased it with synthetic bearing grease, and have used it mercilessly since, moving trees, logs, pulling fenceposts, and extracting myself from muck. It's noisy as hell, and sounds like it'll blow any second, but so far has not failed. When it quits it will make a good boat anchor, then I'll be ready for a good quality winch, Warn, Ramsey, or Superwinch....
