winch

so i just got my winch a couple days ago and am new to it and my dick head friends on my baseball team think its funny to put my winch on free spool and pull out the cable and let it hang on the ground. is there any way to lock it so that they can not pull it out?

Not really. Find new friends and/or chain a pit bull to the front of your Jeep. Well, I guess you could padlock the swaged end loop of the wire rope that the hook passes through to something on the bumper or winch.

I say when you get to the baseball field, park close to one of them, let out some cable, and hook it to their vehicle. Then tighten up on the cable and lock away the winch control. That way they won't be able to free spool the cable.

^ great idea. Plus they wont ever mess with you again if they decide to pull off without your permission.

The pad lock Idea is nice but even if the hook is locked up they could still spool the cable out and make a giant loop

GI Joe's Military Surplus. Use a dummy grenade. Put the hook in the pin and find a way to keep the grenade on the bumper

I'm sure once you ripped off one of their bumpers with your winch they would likely leave your jeep alone.

Use a zip tie and tie it to your grill. That will prob work if you have it tight. just remember a knife to cut it when you need to use it lol

I like the idea of pulling up close to them and pulling out your cable and attaching it to one of their axles then lock it and tell them to stop messing with you or you will disable their vehicles...

Nice friends, I would teach them a lesson if they keep messing with it.
Hoook it to their bumper and when they drive off.... ohh what happened to your bumper... it just fell off... LOL
